What good is free software, if you don't know how to use it? It's worthless... or worse, it's costly, because you have to invest your time into learning (or even inventing) stuff...

Most of you talk about africa like it's some god forsaken place where all people live in mud houses and have no running water or electricity... well, you're wrong. Majority of people in africa have running water and have electricity.

Food support for africa? This is the most idiotic thing goverments around the world do. They eat the food, and what then? They need more food. Goverments should provide people of africa with knowledge to create their own living. Knowledge, not materials. Knowledge doesn't disappear if you eat it.

Security breaches are caused by bad administration and bad habits. People in offices have passwords written on monitors, mobile phones, ... and they also send passwords via unsecure communication method. (e-mail, phone, ...) - that's the major problem in security.

PPC are RISC based processors.. while x86 are CISC. The difference is that RISC processors have 'hardwired' all basic instructions into them... making them capable of executing instructions in single cycle.. or even more instructions at same time. CISC processors on the other hand have programmable core. (i'm not going to explain how that works.. but closest analogy would be to internet routers.. and directing the packet to reach desired destination) This makes it more versatile and cheaper, but less efficient.

Problem isn't the internet or sharing... (actully.. this only helps less famous bands to gain popularity)

Problem is that 50years ago there was much less music altogether. People still buy same amount of albums per year. But in 1950s bands released some quality music.. and people bought all 5 or so albums in certain genre they liked..

Now... market is just saturated with 99% crap music. And only artists that are complaining are the ones making crap music. They apparently don't care about fans.. all they care is money. Fans will always buy good albums... if they have means to.

I for example listen to heavy metal. How many good albums were released in 2003? No more than 5! And who is the loudest about ripping-off the bands? Fucking metallica, who made the biggest piece of shit album - EVER. They are ripping-off the fans, not vice-versa. And they don't deserve our money. I couldn't imagine myself not downloading their music and buying their crappy album, so i can shit on it.

  13. Re:Um, no. on Does Your LCD Play Catch-Up To Your Mouse? · · Score: 2, Insightful

People, you are being misled! Those 20-28ms is only the delay! After that time it takes another 50ms (less on newer models with active matrix) for pixel to actually change colour. All people who are saying LCDs perform as well as CRT aren't comparing them side-by-side. Most of you got shiny new LCD with shiny new computer... and it feels better because you have better computer, not becuse of LCD. Especially in gaming CRTs are much faster than LCDs. If you don't notice that you are blind. Or you are comparing it to CRT at 60Hz which is overkill for eyes and brain. Modern CRTs have no problem operating at 120Hz - use that! As for "i don't see skipping mouse pointer on my lcd".. you probably use default windows drivers for mouse, which caps your mouse refresh to 40Hz.. of course you don't notice anything. Download "ps2rate" utility to measure your mouse rate. Even usb mice with default drivers default to 40Hz.
