I am probably the only person on the planet that does not have google's website set as my browser home page. Far from a google fanatic. Yet even I will admit.
Google OS is potentially something the industry has been waiting for. This company knows how to get things done. Knows how to market, scale, respect, has money, has the talents, has the people's ear. Most importantly it knows how to shoot for simplicity.
They should keep all the details top secret and unleash this with a Eureka moment and turn M$ upside down. Though they'll probably release a couple betas at a time instead.
I am really scratching my head on all these posts. Are they implying more or a Mac-to-linux wine emulation type deal? Or are they implying that one day a linux installation will have the option of a Gnome/KDE/Mac interface?
Wikipedia should charge an annual fee of $10. Everybody who paid can modify, and everyone else is just anonymous readers. This will serve a few purposes.
1. Graffiti trolls are simply not going to pay. They will be eliminated. 2. It will help with the fund raising. 3. It will separate serious from not-so-serious users. 4. Reduce the number of accounts and space.
The people doing the corporate blogging should not be the upper management or PR folks. Their views represent 1% of the company and are always positive. It should be the regular joe in the trenches with a day-to-day grind doing the speaking. Only then would people actually take the message seriously.
If you look at the most expensive Prostar, Hypersonic-PC, Sager they are a clear cut above in feature and performance compared to what's offered at your local Compusas, Bestbuys. The problem is that the pricing is so out there.
I have some very young relatives who have a PS2 and want to play online. If I do not physically go to their house and reroute their network properly they would have never played online. The comcast technicians setup everything, they do not care or know what TCP/IP is.
Until you can call Sony or M$ and ask them for instructions to reroute your network and such, they are just sales guy.
Highend jobs - If they say they pay "up to" this amount, realistically you won't ever be offered this amount. Not to mention extremely bloated requirements. Jobs in this area are unpleasant, and too many of them require you to contract for 6 months first. Nothing like quiting your current fulltime job for a contract position.
Midrange jobs - Rare. This category is overseas right now.
Lowend jobs - Plenty of. However, try to find the lowend jobs without using a recruiter as they pocket a good portion from you.
I recently upgraded from an old plextor CDR-writer + Nero 6 to a plextor DVD-writer + Nero 7. I can honestly say that after the 7.0.1.4 update for Nero, it was night and day for me.
Even the same game can be beaten many ways. They should show elite gamers beating classics like castlevania, zelda, metroid, resident evil... and do it without dying. There are more than enough old games to show without spoiling any of today's games. Only limit might be RPGs, aside from that all is good.
Speaking of PSP, this is the year sony handheld division must deliver or die. I don't see it sticking around for the sake of playing DVDs if they can't make some great games. FF7 advent children might drive some sales, but ultimately this is where the road split.
Why stop there? They should expand the wireless network to cover the entire state of CA in case of a major earthquake. Or at least make it totally free under an emergency. Provided you have a laptop and power, some IM and news forcast can go a long way.
I don't know what's better. Knowing I have 2 blockbusters in my town or 50 mailboxes. All I know is I would prefer the unlimited downloadable movies model over any alternative.
If the game wasn't Halo would these people be featured on 60 minutes. Every year there are at least dozens of competitions.
Look on the bright side, it's not SNARFU.

If enough people buy this console later, they'll have to split the 1-800-4MY-XBOX line like any other support calls.

No superweed can ever beat Grand Turismo in a single round.

Equipment is not even an issue by todays standard. Anyone's PC/Mac can do the job.
Plumbers are really no different than your hi-tech consultants who travel and show up on customer sites for some sort of repair and billable hours.

You people are hyping up bejeweled big time. I downloaded a free demo and find it disappointing to have it not be as addicting as heroine.
Any equation with Pi. The more Pi the better. More!
Alright, this is scary. But naming it "The Bush Center" is even more scary.
Mod this guy +99 insightful.
Give him some credit. Bush didn't rename FBI to Federal Bush Investigation during his term.

I do think firefox will reach 50% market share one day. But at the current pace it will have to do alot more than the word of mouth advertising.
