  3. Re:Bleh on PCs Losing Out as a Gaming Platform? · · Score: 1
Consoles are great for some genres of games (such as FF-style RPG's, Sports games, party games etc), but when it comes to FPS, RTS or MMOG give me a PC any day of the week. How anyone can stand playing an FPS with a controller is beyond me. Consoles are generally a generation BEHIND by the time they are released, whereas you can get the latest and greatest graphics on a PC.

The reality is that people can't afford to keep upgrading their video card to have the "Latest and greatest" that a lot of these games require. Although, in all actuality the number of PC gamers has probably remained around a similar number but the number of people who own a game console has increased. So since more people own a PS2 then a high end PC most developers would pick the "more customers is better" argument(which can also be called 'common sense')

The only thing this system should be checking is if someone has a criminal record and list the offenses (and no I am not referring to parking tickets and the like). Any other way of "ranking" someone is the same as any other kind of illegal profiling

And this is what I have been saying about the region coding system! It is backfiring on them! You see, whenever there is a popular import movie out now the only way to get a version that will play properly for everyone is to get a chinese bootleg. Therefore, everyone loses! MPAA!=smart

Actually, the Yahoo article says that it blocks portions of websites rather than whole websites. Blocking parts of individual webpages would be a bit tougher :).

I really think that instead of copyright they should have all intellectual property free and open for the public. Instead of paying for access to the IP rights you are paying for a service, such as a printed book, a music cd and jewel case, a packaged software with paper manual, etc. I suppose I just copied the open-source business model and am trying to apply it to everything but the truth is that it does apply to everything.
