The idea of "PornStreaming" is just a little too vivid for my tastes. And "SwarmPorning" invokes 80's era gang bang images for me. Sorry. How about we just call it a "Fault Tolerant Honeypot" or something? I'd probably give you something a little better but I can't get past the idea of a porn stream. Someone fetch me my boots.
The Linux community needs to quit trying to make another Windows and focus on its core strengths as an alternative!
I always hate when posts like this come up. There is a market for distros like Xandros. That is why they exist as a commercial entity. There are plenty of people who make OSS apps that are innovative and different approaches when compared to the "One Microsoft Way".
The thing is that there are a number of people (probably more than those looking for pure innovation) who want a Windows work-a-like without the virus and ad/spy/malware problems. You may not want a Windows replacement but Xandros isn't targetted for people like you. So go find your niche and let them work theirs. That's the beauty of F/OSS.
I'm something of a big fan of Bart's Portable Evironment Windows boot disc. Native R/W ntfs support, supports McAfee command line virus scanner (with a custom gui), adaware, networking support and many other useful plugins. All in all, a great recovery tool. I wonder if this here portable firefox would work with the Bart boot disc. It would make a nice addition to an alreay powerful tool.
I remember a few months ago that 5.3 was the target for making the 5.X branch the official "stable" branch. Any word on when 5.X goes stable if not with this release?
There is no doubt that Iraq had/has chemical and biological weapons. They USED them against Iran (and probably the US in the first Gulf War). However, the whole pretense for the U.S. attack was that Iraq was still developing these weapons, which they clearly were not. The best indication is that these tainted munitions were left over from the Iran-Iraq war and not specially developed for use by "tirrerists".
Actually, that track listing was an April Fools joke on t.d.n (or it may have been their official site but whenever I think Tool and April Fools, I think t.d.n). If I remember correctly, another track off that listing was "Floor Pail", an anagram for April Fool. But you're right, tracks did show up on P2P bearing those names. It was usually either Sober, Prison Sex or some crappy band that thought they sounded enough like tool that people wouldn't mind the disappointment...
Hey, agree or disagree, a perceived "decline of the gamer" can only be a good thing for gamers. If it encourages innovation, I'd rather them think I'm one foot from the door.
It's nice to have companies fighting for your business instead of feeling entitled to it...
With so many people with their own agendas pushing and pulling at the kernel, and Linus being the steadfast leader he is, I can't help but think Linux may be headed for a fork in the not so distant future. Unless there is a way to make the kernel truly enterprise class as well as a responsive, low latency desktop system and a near real time embedded platform all at the same time.
I'm amazed (in the good way) the kernel devs have made it as versatile as they have to this point. Hats off to them and here's to hoping they can keep it up.
I think you need another copy of that memo...

It's TPS reports. And you seem to have forgotten your cover sheets as well...
(If you're gonna do it, do it right:)
By the same token, if the US can jam these frequencies, isn't it also possible the EU would have this same ability? The US military is sufficiently powerful to say the least, but I can't imagine we hold a monopoly on these techniques? Maybe this isn't the US securing a foothold on Europe so much as it is the US "encouraging" the friendly gov'ts of the EU to cement their own?
Have you tried Debian's Jigdo downloader? It's pretty easy to use and will download and build the ISO for you. Plus, it also supports download resumes. Give it a try and give their servers a break.
"Yes, it's going to be a pain to implement code to handle new archs (like the PPC), but there are enough examples of how to do it that it should be possible."
Have you checked out yellow dog linux? Essentially, they have ported Red Hat (including anaconda) to the PPC and from the reviews I've checked out, have done a pretty good job of it.
How can you read Roblimo's review and not notice his tongue firmly planted in cheek? That "article" read like every single "Windows to Linux: An Average User's Oddessey" article I've ever read. The point seems to be more that that door can swing both ways and people are creatures of habbit. There are a couple good chuckles in there. Laugh, it's ok.
I don't know about you, but I won't use XP anywhere I have the choice and recommend the same to friends and family. I wouldn't even consider installing Windows Media Player 9. It's one thing for XP to tie itself to my hardware, it's another entirely for it to report my po...media habbits back to MS as well. I wouldn't be suprised if the media cartels started asking MS for its "anonymous" WMP usage statistics. Good times...
Agreed in full. The biggest problem with the US is that corporations are given the same rights and treated as regular citizens without having the burdens or responsibility of that designation placed on them. When a company executice pockets millions of dollars by artificially inflating stock prices and then selling it off before leaving the company, we call it a golden parachute. But if an individual did something like that, it would be appropriately called robbery. If, during the course of a trial, a normal person hides evidence or lies under oath, they are held in contempt and thrown in jail. If a company does so, it's strategic. Bullshit.
Truth is, until this country recognizes that we can not treate corporate entities as if they were private citizens, you will continue to see this kind of hypocrisy.

Or maybe a BSD suicide intervention special.

I cringe when I leave the A/C on for too long..
They appealed the decision and, through the magic of the court system, the final decision on a name change is years away.
Is this site biased or something? :-)
Yes. Yes it is.
No.

Reading that description reminded me why I don't use AOL IMer anymore.

Actually, Slack is a commercial distro (the first IIRC). They just happen to have a very faithful following and probably much lower operating costs.
