I'm not exactly a fan of the service. The rewards are far far too low. If I spend 30 minutes or longer answer a particularly rough question I might get some points out of it. EE does have some good ones and some good answers.
However, that reward is pretty much nothing compared to what they will get when someone needs to see those answers. I myself started because I/needed/ a question to be answered and search results were turning up nil. (It was apparently answered and the post was quite good).
SO yeah, EE will take my post and generate a good deal of revenue off of that. The other route is to begin answering questions and at some point I get free access? I'm not entirely sure how that works there.
A better replacement would be a profit sharing setup... now if I could just get some capitol.
In the long term, it's going to be better to train your learning and attributes up, but that needs to be balanced with action.
Even then, it's fairly trivial to train base + level 3 advanced up.
Honestly, I wish I had started the game with training things higher, but I took a mixed route myself.
Someone did the math on a forum once and it would take a significant amount of time to recoup the lost time for training all advanced learning/attribute skills to L5. Generally, it's not recommended unless you are going to be in the game for a long long time.
Encouraging the use of associates links simply fuels the desire to evolve a response, story or otherwise imaginative tale to include another referral link.
It diminishes the content here because the post is crafted with something to gain.
Granted, this is one of the few times I have really seen a need for a direct link, but then again it isn't exactly hard to visit your favorite retailer (online or off). None the less, it is generally not needed and can be done without very easily.
A creative person can usually work their con in some way or another when there is something to gain.
They could be likeable, but I hate both the actors!
The whole "going in for major surgery" gag was actually pretty good, but I don't like either of the people involved in the commercial. Someone else, somewhere here had a better arguement on the whole commercials... for whatever reason... I just don't like the people currently involved.
Alright, if gold farmers have to resort to secondary channels to peddle their warez they might see a decrease in revenue. Seeking additional methods of revenue generation, they will flock to Second Life to make their stake in the virtual gold rush!
Second Life will surge with life? Um, no wait!
It's a trap... every gold farmer that logs onto Second Life will be trapped and slaughtered in the world's newest virtual roach motel!
Perhaps because people don't come to slashdot for advertisements. Granted, they are here and it is quite necessary for the survival of slashdot, but user generated advertisements do nothing for slashdot or it's users. (Other then those posting the ad).
No, you are attempting to garner revenue from the users herein and we don't really care for it.
You'll get no sympathy here... if you want to sell something go post it to craig's list or ebay where the users expect to receive such things.
It is not likely they refuse to carry the programming.
Chances are your local Fox affiliate has a retransmission agreement in place as opposed to a must carry agreement.
The new trend is to offer retransmission in exchange for a bucket load or two of cash.
They either don't have the funds, feel is too outrageous or otherwise don't want to take the heat for upping the cable bill. I don't know too many cable subs who would refuse to carry additional programming in the broadcast tier.
I have a brand new DVD sitting on my desk made for affiliate use and I had mine a week earlier then the show release. (Full box art as well) I would rather not site the specific network affiliation because I do not speak for them.
My copy was also late...
I was speaking in very general terms here trying to convey a message.
However, it is entirely possible that a full blown release was available to anyone within any given stations reach a week before the episodes public release.
If I recall correctly, they were siting only one release was a week earlier.
Another poster mentioned the DVD chain release as well.
There are simply far too many leaks for it to be an absolute inside job.
Just out of curiosity... who isn't using encryption these days? As far as the larger networks go.
Now, occasionally there will be an unencrypted backup feed, but as far a I know most of the large networks are using DVB type setups with encryption.
Lyngsat seems to be nearly always out of date, but it is still a great source of information. There are some better wild feed listers, but I haven't paid attention to those in years.
Often times, an episode or pilot will be sent out on dvd to be distributed to potential clients. These are presented as general sales tools and sometimes carry little restriction. ie, copy and burn to distribute to those you deem necessary. While the episode may not contain all of computer graphics of the final show... it can very much be the whole thing.
I'm surprised it actually took this long for someone to do this. However, it wouldn't have to be an employee of a Fox affiliate and could just be some random soul who was given a copy for preview.
These things have always been a bit sloppy in my opinion and it will be interesting to see if they tighten up on these internal releases.
Me, I would have sat on it until things were a little more entrenched. Granted, more then likely someone else would have cracked it and released it eventually anyway.
Apple DRM isn't exactly the strongest brand of DRM Goodness(tm).
I'm fairly certain everyone else is aware of that little secret too.
Be it the little known loop hole of secretly burning off your music and re-ripping it into your favorite codec or the more nefarious path known as fair play.
Indeed, as the network install option is still there and quite easy to find.
Just last week I burned the boot image (8mb) for FC6 and installed everything else from redhat's servers over the network. It was quite painless from installation to start.
The only drawbacks were the time involved in nabbing each package and some mirrors were dreadfully broken. (looked like updates were applied to the main tree or a version mismatch)
There are a few places out there with scripts that will build a distro from FC.
The main problem with the last one I used seemed to be proper lack of dependency checking. A secondary problem was not providing any link to what the package provided other then the rpm name itself.
It was also dreadfully slow!
All from the comfort of your web browser!
So at least a bit of this is already started and could very well be improved upon.
In any event, it's been a while since I've looked at it, but with a bit of rummaging I'm sure anyone interested could locate it.
If the person who lost it has already replaced.... sure!
My one few incident involved a fairly expensive dvcam deck. The authorities were going through someones history and asking for serial numbers to check against. Sure enough, our new found joy was on the list of not so good news.
In this incident, the company simply sent us a refund check for the item in question and were prosecuting the individual for the lost funds.
I'm going to guess the deck was used as evidence as we had sent it off to the authorities.
The window could be that much larger then two months.
The sliding window works both ways. Longer if it's not a problem right now, but if it's activelly being traded and used... it becomes a much larger problem.
/. has been following that whole paper/ink electronic display thingie for ages.
From inception to production in some devices!
At least, the first search turned up a prototype of the device.
It's just like you said though... a great deal of these things never get passed the initial.
In your scenario...
I immediately invest everything I have in these magical duplication machines.
Next, I design a car that is made completely from crack.
I set the device to loop and I'm a very very rich man.

It's actually a balance most of us recommend.

She managed to get noticed...
Can't say the same thing for a 100,000 other actresses.
Time will tell if she gets paid well for her time.
Uh, you are not going to borrow anyone's equipment and then say something bad about them...
It's kinda common sense.

Not so oddly enough, I happened to run into a clip of something I've never seen before. It was apparently, a clip from Countdown With Keith Olbermann.
Keith might be a bit long winded, but it made me want to check the show out a little more in depth.
Colbert I have never felt a draw for, but after watching a couple clips on YouTube I'm a little more inclined to add it to my pvr line up.
So yeah, it kinda works and occasionally I find some good amateur comedy bits I like.
I disagree!

It doesn't really look like it's going to be very true to the original. Merely they just tacked on a poor ghost busters theme.
Assumming they fix all the problems we have seen with the early release it should be something worth playing.
Right now, it looks like a bad mod.
Tagging? Who cares? Gimme my pr0n....
Seriously, I don't tag, I don't care and I don't want to care.
I'm not going to change anytime soon and I bet there are a lot more of me then you.
This is one of the few days where I can tell I look like a troll, but this is exactly how I feel about the subject. I guess I'm an angry person.
Yes, downtime will come and go, but the page rank effects will be everlasting!

Eager beavers are going to ruin the world!
