  1. ANYCALL on Future Samsung Phone Plans Leaked · · Score: 2, Insightful

Please note: If they are marked with "Anycall" they will not be released here in the States, or Europe for that matter. Only Korea. Plus, phones with these specs are not uncommon there currently. They already have phones with hard drives in them, as well as 5mp cameras (that take great pics)! Theres a slim chance that if one of the US CDMA carriers adopts the Korean Wideband CDMA network infrastructure for their 3G rollout, we may see them here, but that dosent look likely, and i can only immagine how much Verizon would fuck you over with charges. $.50 per HDD spool up sounds reasonable, dosent it?

I followed up with a simple question, "Who on this panel has played which of the games?"

Burke answered first, "I haven't played any of them." She backed up her willful ignorance of the games by suggesting that she didn't need to read Soldier of Fortune to know that she was opposed to its glorification of killing. "I think it's an irrelevant question," she concluded.

When will people learn that ignorance is not an excuse.

So your saying that its MY fault for wanting to play a game on a computer that never has / never will have net access? Since when has a net connection been a requirement of playing an OFFLINE game?

Its just like the authentication scheme on the T2 super duper edition DVD (the one with the HD-WMV version). Why should i have to contact MS to play a f-ing movie that i already paid for?

This is a bad trend. Soon enough ill have to have a net connection so my bed can authenticate me to go to sleep.

Why should i have to ask Valve permission to use an offline single-player game when i want to? I paid for the game, why cant i 'just use it'? Whats going to happen when Valve stops supporting their authentication server for HL2? Are they going to refund me my $$$, 'cause my game is now useless?

As good as the game may be, i will not give money to a company that endorses such shit policies. As soon as there is a cracked version that eliminates the need for a net connection i will be using it on my internet free gaming box, but Valve will not see a penny from me. Im not a 'pirate', i just dont support companies with shit policies.

Im quite looking forward to the next Paper Mario. Its visual style is truly cool and 'new' yet quite retro.

I think battery life was much more an issue before built in rechargables. As long as i dont need to buy a pack of AAs for every session im fine with charging it every night, just like my cell phone, camera and other battery driven devices.

I do think that size will be an issue, its big, limiting its portability. Although its nice that its big in that the screen will be easily viewable without squinting or holding the thing 2 inches away from my face.

  13. samsung 213t on Samsung's 17" LCD Gaming Monitor Rated · · Score: 1
I picked up a Samsung 213t 21" arround the hollidays and i love it. I needed the size because i use it mainly for graphics work and page layout. Its native 1600x1200. The colors are very consistant, brightness is great and viewing angle is nearly 180.

I do have a few complaints. When watching movies or playing games where there is a lot of dark scenes, there just isnt the contrast to make it look good. Even at 600:1, CRTs destroy LCDs. And my Ti4200 card dosent have the muscle to run the panel at full rez DVI. It goes up to 1280x1024 and then chokes on 1600x1200. So until i get a new card ill be running it analog.

The response time is ~25ms i believe, but im usually working with static images so the little bit of ghosting whilst gaming dosent bother me. Its, for me, all about the screen size to footprint ratio, and CRTs cant touch that at all.
