and they all have problems and issues. I haven't lost any data, but I've had plenty of read/write failures. This wouldn't be acceptable for a major company even if it didn't also mean having the user install software to access their drive. The tech support costs for that alone would outweight any license fees.
The first too games were launch titles, it's not surprising to see them since Sega was depararate for software early on. The two master system games don't surprise me either given the dearth of titles for the system.
Also, I don't belive Street Combat had anything to do with Ranma 1/2. The Ranma 1/2 fighter was released in the states more or less untouched (they redid the voices, which rumor has it ticked off Rumiko Takahashi). Certainly the screenshots of the game I've seen don't have background art akin to Ranma, and usually programers leave the background alone when they do sprite hacks. Maybe I'm wrong, it would explain a lot of the rumors about why we never got any more Ranma games if I am:)
anyone who says Thrill Kill was a bad game needs to dig up a copy of Criticom for the Saturn. Now _there_ was a terrible game. But as for the first 4 player fighter? Sorry Yuu Yuu Hakusho: Makyo Toitsusen did it years ago on the Sega Genesis (and did a damn fine job, pitty we never got it, damn licensing *grumble*grumble*). And Street Racer ripped off Mario Kart long before mega man did.
Easy-to-Copy DVDs will be phased out. It'll be cake to do in a few years once all those el'cheapo dvd players break and people buy shinny new hd-dvd/blueray players. They'll be no resistence since you're not giving up your dvd collection you're gaining Hi-Def.
Naw, if they can't make a profit they'll just stick it in a huge container somewhere and sue anyone else who tries to distribute ground up customer meat.
What is means is that humanity first arose in Asia, but the rest of us lazy Westerners were still sleeping. I understand parts of Florida are still asleep.
when you can do what the insurance companies do and just report your upcomming rates to everyone. Then everyone can raise their prices at the same time, nice and legal.
in Morrowind, I turned up resolution when I was low level so I could avoid the flying bird monsters (they're a nightmare to kill if you don't have a good ranged attack untill you're pretty high level). I was able to see them clearly from a distance because I played in 1024x768. With tv resolutions they'd be indistinguishable green dots on you before you realized it (they draw a bead on you when they get close).
When I used to play Shadow Warrior on a lan playing in 640x480 gave me a huge edge, I could see players across the whole level and nail them with a rail gun while they ran around.
sorry, but you're basically screwed. Your in the dreaded niche within a niche (a Mac user who won't shell out $300 for a windows pc or virtual pc). And while you do bring some money to the table, you're also a hugh support headache. I guess you could vote with your dollars (if you're in the states BankofAmerica.com works fine in Firefox). Still, unless the number of Firefox/Safari users goes way up, you're probably not going to see support, or only partial support at best.
The entire point of a hyperlink is to take you from one spot in a document to another. The fact that the document is video instead of text is irrelevant. This patent, along with ebay's online auction patent, are perfect examples of technology applied for it's intended purpose and patented because the Internet is involved. In ebay's case the madness is patenting the Interent to communicate auction information. What with the Internet being foremost a communications medium you'd think the content of the communications wouldn't be patentable. It's kind of like patenting hammering a nail in two strokes instead of three, that's what a hammer's for for God's sake. It couldn't be more obvious.
Easily discredited. Sega clearly planned on using the Hitachi processor in the saturn for basic 3D, witness Virtua Racing for the Genesis (it's got a 20mhz hitatchi in it that slaves the main Genesis processor). And it's patently absurd to imagine Sega would design a console they couldn't port their arcade hit Virtua Fighter to. It is true Sega underestimated Sony's console and rushed to deal with it. Still, you've got to remember that console games had traditionally lagged _way_ behind the arcades. It was unusual for Sony to build such a powerful console (the psx tekken 2 for example is generally considered superior to the arcade).
and indie book stores. What I don't have is indie game stores (unless you count pawn shops). Indie record and book shops are specialty stores, and games don't lend themselves to that. Imports are a bitch to play (chip your console and learn Japanese?) and you can't barter in rare games since there are only a handful of them. Then again there is ebay, quite possible the largest gamestore in history.
when they gave her a backstory (the ever popular family killed/revenge story). wtf, she's suppose to be all mysterious and crap. All I can figure is Peter Chung had to bend over backwards to get this made, just like when The Tick made evil his bitch.

Correct my own post, hey you're right! Jesus, no wonder Rumiko was so angry :). Wow, that's nuts.

when netcraft confirms it.
Took long enough for someone to say it, didn't it?
Thomas and the Magic Words. It's one of those game ideas that's so simple and cool I wish I'd throught of it :).
Till we see it in arcades? In Japan anyway, since Arcades are dead here in the states, but still :).

It's down the block not across the street!

Quiet fool! The makers of Star Wars Galaxies could be listening as we speak!

Dude, when else are you gonna get a chance to cop a feel on a princess?
large companies will protech themselves with their portfolios while crushing startups and innovation with patent litigation.

charged more for the roms and OS? Or did they have long range contracts or something silly like that?

they licensed the patent.
