"What about other drivers, not realizing someone would be breaking the law that egregiously, and making a quick lane change thinking they've got plenty of time? The highways would be safe for 100+ MPH travel if they were either empty, full of drivers also going 100+ MPH, or at the very least full of drivers expecting others to be doing 100+ MPH. None of those things are true."
True enough, although other drivers should be checking their mirrors before making a "quick lane change". I've had it enough times when roaring along in the fast lane.
Also, this guy is driving an M5, not some american muscle car with tiny brakes, not some "sports car" like a sunfire.. an M5. Ever driven one? this thing can detach your retinas if you hit the brakes too hard. it handles, and it's actually designed to go fast.
I drive roads all the time where rednecks in f350 diesel's with mud tires on them are going 100mph. lets see, high CG, small brakes, tires rated to only 80mph.. hmmm Disaster...
Fair enough, I have a good atitude towards users who know nothing, however when they get abusive, rude, etc towards me, You're going to damn well expect a nasty response.
I was hired for my exellent atitude towards users however, I was not below calling a user back after they called me a motherf*cker in a foreign language they supposed I didn't understand and ream them out over it? What, am I supposed to favor assholes like this? how about when people dont follow the prescribed policies and guidelines and completely blow their systems up, am I supposed to fix it *NOW*? maybe, but you better be sure that person's supervisor is aware of their breaking the rules. I've had a few people fired over their policy breaking, usually after their shitty atitude towards me.
Anyone whos ever worked any kind of helpdesk role is aware of the type of user who has a self inflicted problem who demands service and basically adbuses the person on the end of the phone.
People like that, I call a meatbag. Other professions dont have to stand for abuse, why do we?
I assume the "subsidy code" is what they are referring to. There is a bigger issue at hand which is being missed. Cellular phones are provided "subsidised" by the cell phone companies, in other words they shove you on a contract, you pay a certain amount up-front for the phone and the rest is paid for across the term of the contract. At the end of said contract *YOU* own the phone. I have for years fought will cell phone companies as each cell phone I owned became mine... At the end of the contract they should be unlocking the phone. However most companies will unlock the phone for a $250 or so fee. hah.
So during the term of your contract where your phone is being financed, it should be locked to your carrier, but upon termination of that contract they should unlock it for free.
Very cool stuff. Apparently the Wright was decommisioned in 1970 sold for scrap in 1980.
wow.. a pi network room..cool stuff to think about for a radio geek like me.
Factory robots are just machinery, they are not autonomous... This is no different then not shutting your car engine off, and reaching in and getting your hand removed by the fan.
Land of the free.. they still let you leave. I did. more people should. Leave the USA to the dumb trailerpark propganda believing republican hicks that believe that things like the patriot act are there to protect you.
My XPS 400 came with a bare XP cd, a drivers cd, a software cd! I don't know what you're talking about, my old inspiron 8200 came exactly the same way. They were both loaded with crap, but any "power" user would install a fresh OS anyway.
In the DMS line of switches already. When we went from analogue switching to digital trunks and all that, there were was the ability to listen in added right from the get-go. VOIP is the biggest issue now and i'm sure thats what they are after.
That is well and good, But the problem I had with selective service was this. I was 18 when living in the USA and signed up. I was not a citizen but a permanent resident at the time. However, because I was living in and benifiting from the USA I figgured registering was the least I could do.
Then I moved home to Canada. The selective service people would *NOT* de-register me. I had turned in my greencard.. They would "guarantee" that I would be de-registered at age 26. That bugs me, as I am no longer in the US, I should be allowed to be de-registered.
Perhaps all people should register, I dont know.. but if you are, you should be able to un-register.
One thing that I always argue about when talking VOIP is that IT MUST WORK. I have had a hell of a time convincing our senior administration about the fact that going to voip in our enterprise environment means extending the "5 9s" right to our network racks, that means big ass UPS units.. etc etc.
Bah, ITs great tech and all, but unless you can have end to end QOS right to vonages network, you need a landline backup.
"The real number to which your 911 call is forwarded is some sort of state secret."
Well, From What I remember, our 911 call centre doesn't have a number, 911 calls trunk right to the call centre, you enter something like an ACD queue. They
Also have the 911 call center in another city setup as an alternate in case ours is down
The Problem I have seen while working at a college is there are a vast majority of PHDs, while intelligent, appear otherwise. I think its usually a form of arrogance, or a lack of Spirit. Alot of Professors just don't seem like they are there to teach. I've dealt with PHds in the private sector, and they are a total different breed it seems, totally capable.. and almost godlike;)
Problem isn't the platform as much as the implementation. I'd say that someone bollocksed the whole thing up, which could be just as tragic rolling out a linux upgrade or whatever.
We've got to educate the people spending our money on large computer systems to spend part of that money on more testing!
Although one may be suprised to find out that in Canada (at least alberta) Broadband penetration seems alot higher then in the US. Every little craphole town seems to have DSL.
I always wonder, when people claim "Sp2 shat my machine" if they are installing on a fresh, or fairly clean system. The machines i've seen that have really screwed up Sp2 either had spyware/viruses or traces of them or some weird software (usually only one application breaks)
Sometimes its not fair to claim a service pack broke your gatored and cometcursored box!
What about the 6500 series, alot of cisco hardware is PC based (PIX 525)? but.. look at a big expensive 6509, arent they something like 256gb on the backplane?

Everyone needs to quit bitching. This thing is great. Look at what a "DC to daylight" ham rig costs you.. and you have no where near the control.

there is a choice.

It protects them as well as you, if funny things happen during your 2 weeks, then you can say "what, i was locked out right away" Pretty standard :)

My Sirius works just fine in northern alberta, thanks :) Most of the rig pigs up here get them imported and overpay for them.
The old school video games could cause seizure!!! Hah.
