    Asus has this offering which is intriguing although it is a 13.3". What makes it so intriguing is that it is dirt cheap in comparison the Dell/IBM/Mac/Sony...It's priced at $699 and has nice specs:
    -4.8 hours
    -1.9 Kg in weight, 22mm in thickness (if i were smart i would translate that to inches/lbs for your lazy ass)
    -4X USB2.0
    -Centrino
    -It's not ugly like most HP's/Toshibas
    If anyone has experience with this laptop, do tell. Sounds too good to be true.

    For a mew few hundreds more, you can get it's cousin the Dell Latitude L400, or C400....or ofcourse the new x200(which is near pefect).

    Ebay has all of these starting from $400-1300.

    ...they like to hold it in the first place is that the company is actually making money off the interest of it's holdings. That's part of the reason it takes 6 friggin' months for you to get your money back. In that time, the vender(like Viewsonic, where my friend works) will have made some more change off that original $200 rebate of yours that they hold.

    Whenever a programmer uses measurements, takes into account shedules, effort and costs then he is truely 'engineering'. These tasks are not always asked of say, a web developer, but if you're developing in a structured environment then you are an engineer IMHO.

    Probably because 5 years ago we didn't have more-pressing issues like: Bin Laden(remember him?), North Korea ready to push red buttons. The US economy on life support, corporate fraud, etc, etc. All things that Bush should fix before he can go on oil crusades...errr, fight iraqi terrorism. If things are relatively cheery, I doubt average-american-male gives a rats ass if we bomb asparin factories in Sudan, foreign embassies in Sarejevo. Life goes on here.
