I used to live near that area, from the suite number it sounds like it's a business address because it's mostly single family homes in that area with mixed commercial.

It is a pretty decent (upper middle class) part of town about 30 minutes south of Boca Raton.

Google shows a UPS store in the same address (different suite, obviously) so it's a business address. Anyone feel like driving there? I'm quite a ways further down the road now.

You meant that it needs to not be running in safe mode, right? I followed your link and copied this:

Note: Your PHP installation must not be in safe mode, or have exec() disabled.. Gallery is a sophisticated application and must do operations that require extensive privileges. These prevent Gallery from functioning properly. You must also have full access to functions.
  6. Try "Gallery" if you want a DIY solution. on Flickr Online Photo Service Reviewed · · Score: 2, Informative
I set up Gallery on my home server and after some configuring it works without a hitch! You can get it at http://gallery.sourceforge.net/ and all it needs to run is Apache, PHP and some free image manipulation programs!

Unfortunately, it seems to be very particular about what webhosting services it likes - both of my office's hosts, Readyhosting and Interland don't have enough PHP access to make it work. It works just fine for me at home running XP Pro, Apache and PHP.

It's pretty vanilla but it supports multiple users with permissions, you can add comments, rotate, do batch uploads through either Java applets, a html form or from a URL. I was using statically generated pages from Jalbum and while these lack the prettiness of Jalbum, they are HUGELY more flexible.

The Motorola T720 and Sony-Ericsson T68i were like that. You would buy (seperately, of course) the camera module and snap it on to the bottom of the phone. It was something like $120 to buy the OEM camera but of course there were knock-offs on Ebay.

I don't believe they ever went above 640x480 though - that would be an oppurtunity to innovate by producing a higher resolution imager.

How about the scene in Tommy Boy where Tommy is talking to a potential client and the client mentions his brake pads don't have a warranty printed on the box but the Zalinski pads do?

Just because a phone has a warranty doesn't mean that it's going to be defect free. It's up to the manufacturer to ensure that the components and assembly is up to a high enough standard to produce a quality product.

I suppose we could always go back to bag phones with sealed lead acid batteries, those were mostly safe. You certainly wouldn't hear about one exploding in someone's pants pocket.

I'm totally agreeing with this whole thread - nothing is 100% safe but there are acceptable ratios of defects.

I won't even get into details with my experience but ATTWS sold me an Ericsson T68i and it WOULD NOT get signal. I had to pay out of pocket for a different GSM phone off of ebay because AT&T's service down here (South Florida) sucked. After three replacements, I sold the 3rd as new on Ebay to recover some of my loss and struggled through my 1 year contract.

I really liked the form factor of the T68i but ATTWS's network was such shit that I would average 5 tries to get connected and i might not be able to stay connected. It improved hugely when I bought a used Motorola T720 but I had my fill of ATTWS and made an early switch to Cingular - who offers excellent service, good prices and I NEVEr have a dropped call

I ended up changing to cingular and haven't looked back since... I left 3 months early and was paying the minimum $25 service so they wouldn't bill me the $200 termination penalty - which they did anyway but I sorted THAT out.

ATTWS has a good selection of phones but their coverage down here was HORRIBLE, their customer service was terrible and their equipment was extremely unreliable.

  13. Re:1.25 Gb max on Apple Announces New iBooks · · Score: 1
I didn't check the new specs but typically the iBook has 128 mb solidered (I suspect now it's finally 256 solidered) and one SO-DIMM slot. That is one of the differentiating points between it and the PowerBook series. AFAIK - 1gb is the largest SODIMM but I'd suspect (maybe) that a piece beyond 1gb would be supported.

1.25gb is plenty for a consumer level machine... OSX works good with 512 and really hums with 1gb or more. Most people seem to just put an extra 512 in if money is tight. I recall that the single slot was a huge upsell point for memory since we (old company) didn't want you to have to re-buy memory, upsell! upsell! $200 profit! (cough) company ran aground, i was a service tech, not sales (cough)

  14. Re:2 speed bumps in 9 moths on Apple Announces New iBooks · · Score: 1

You could always sell it and buy a new one. The best (and worst) factor to Apple computers is the high resale value. It's easy to recover more of your investment when you sell in a year or two but at the same time it's hard to buy a year old Apple because it's only usually $400 cheaper than a brand new unit with current specs that sells (usually) for a lower sticker than the older unit did.

I would expect that the battery would be covered for the $20 fee when the year is up.
