But you can have faith in the consistency of your perceptions. So far, in my 22 years, I've never seen gravity not work. But I must take it on faith that it will continue to do so. I'd say there's a good chance it will happen, but I don't actually know any of the relevant physics to start figuring the probabilities. So from the evidence I have, I use my faith to guide my daily life, not jumping off of buildings, for example. I don't believe that anyone's actually proven that gravity will continue to work tomorrow, but I'm not likely to be swayed that it isn't true.

  10. Pipe Organ on What's the Coolest Thing You've Ever Built? · · Score: 1

My friends and I built a working, two-octave, pump-powered pipe organ out of plywood, 2x4's, rubber, and network cable. We filled an "air tank" that we built out of plastic sheeting by means of a bellows, then used that tank for pressured air to send through the pipes.

  11. Re:Easy to make them misdirect it. on Hollywood Says Piracy Has Ripple Effect · · Score: 1

Identity theft usually involves hurting someone financially. Watching cable without paying for it may or may not actually hurt the company (usual arguments about not buying it if you couldn't get it illegally), depending on how much physical damage you do, i.e. splicing your own lines into theirs, or some such thing, which they then have to pay to repair.

Not exactly. At least some of the in game directions (East/West) will be flipped too, so any NPC dialogue giving directions needs to be altered as well.

Because "on" is a preposition, and "reading" is not. "On" requires an object, so to speak. If you leave out "on him" instead of just him, you get, "John was killed when a rock fell". Not exactly the same sentence, but it is at least correct, and could probably be assumed from context. And technically, the first two are only the same because the context is ridiculously obvious, there's room for a different interpretaion, if you wanted to be pedantic and argumentative.
