LiningUpTV went to Virgin Megastore in Hollywood for the midnight DVD release, like last year, and saw the crappy video playing on the TVs inside the store. So my friend got angry and destroyed the new DVD.
I highly recommend the Panasonic PV-GS150. We used it to stream LiningUpTV for 6 weeks on the steet of Hollywood Blvd, 24 hours a day. That camera is a workhorse - it survived torrential rainstorms, bleeding hot sun, drunk transients throwing it on the ground, and other insane hazards. The GS150 ran for 1000 hours straight, and is still working great.
We already did this with http://www.firstcutlive.tv/liningup/ and found that advertisers are not keen on new advertising models. But viewers are willing to pay for quality content. With so much DV out there, quality is king now.
- each time, a last minute deal was struck and Star Wars premiered at Grauman's Chinese
Who's to say this wont happen again? Also, George is infamous for his hardon for digital films - the Arclight does not have Digital Projection. Grauman's Chinese does. Vader's frickin footprints are at the Chinese Theatre.
No matter where its playing, people will be lined up. LiningUpTV will be broadcasting from the line, and show fan films and the fans in line 24/7. We're scheduled to start it up Friday at www.liningup.net
Just yesterday I completed a bluetooth conversion of a payphone handset. It has a range of 30-50 feet and is much easier to hold and shoulder than a regular mobile. Theres just something about gripping a ceramic handset and metal coil shielding.
I'm so glad to see respect from the institutional gaming companies shown toward the homebrew exploiters. People wanted Online gaming, Warp Pipe gave it, and Nintendo applauded with alleged business relations. We've come a long way from Bleem!
A Walton patented RFID, another Walton wants to require all distributors to use the technology.
Coincidence?
Side note: maybe Disney and the entertainment industry could take a hint and continuously invent new stuff like Charles Walton, rather than lobby to extend the copyright timeframe every few years.
Nature Magazine has an article about Biological Nanocomputers that was linked off of NPR's All Things Considered, which discussed this issue and is worth a listen (RA AND WM9). This story was followed by the audio freezer story previously, all in all a good day for NPR news.
Maybe with a system like this in place, advertisers will finally air all the cool commercials seen online and overseas. That Honda "Cogs" advert was the coolest thing never seen on US television. Tivo is providing an outlet for advertisers to show extended ads like that from Honda. This also gives opportunity to showcase great storymercials, like Reebok's Terry Tate.
The "skip commercials" argument is bogus - most people buy a Tivo to replace the VCR. Ask most people why they actually watch the entire Super Bowl every year - its the adverts. So there IS a big viewer market for good advertising.
So the question is, will future companies still decide to deal and partner with MS, or will this case impact their business alignment reputation more than any other? MS will still dangle a ton of money in front of any company, at which point will those littler guys convienently forget the behemoth's negotiation techniques?
Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John Warner says he spoke to the program's director and that they both agreed "this thing should be stopped." A formal announcement is expected soon.
The senators called the idea "a federal betting parlor on atrocities and terrorism" and declared it "ridiculous" and "grotesque." The opinion was echoed Tuesday by ranking Democratic Senator Tom Daschle, who said the program was an incentive to commit terrorist acts.
video games have always been helpful in the development process. I remember in grade school that all the "smart" kids owned NES or PC games. Theres been a couple studies recently supporting this theory.
unfortunately games are becoming like the movie industry, only the big titles with big budgets make it on store shelves. Hopefully novel gaming wont go the way of the Bruckheimer.
So what actually constitutes as a thumbnail? A lower quality version of an original source? This could apply to music as well, since a low bitrate mp3 is a poorer quality version of the original raw cda.
In terms of electronic use, all data comes down to 1s and 0s. Does this ruling apply to other forms of electronic duplication like music, or is imagery a whole different can?
Throw in an Afterburner and you'll start using the old GBA more often. The SP is just too small to enjoy playing. And there are a few games for GameCube coming out that you can use 4 GBAs on, including a Zelda: Four Swords port.
Get a flash loader and use your old GBA as a MAME machine. Or web server. Or MP3 player with any headphones. Theres a TV tuner and a FM radio tuner as well built for the large body GBA. And with AV Out on it, you can use your GBA to play all your MP3s or wmvs on any TV or stereo. And with Nintendo's quality craftsmanship, it'll last until your grandkids are ready to play! How many tech devices have that type of reputation?
Wheres the MPAA? Now that this fan film is known, gaining mass popularity, and may become mildly successful, will there be legal ramifications for copyright infringement?
Shot for Shot remake, certainly the Writers guild will have something to say.
A brilliant piece of work though. Puts Hardware Wars to shame.
I wonder if any of the writers will be on the show too. Most of the success has relied on excelelent writing.
I think this is the first time ever the voice actors have been allowed to do their characters on a television show other than the cartoon itself. James Lipton sure knows how to negotiate for his guests!

Its quite possible, based on this IGN review, that Star Wait can be added to the list of really bad Star Wars related things.
Star Wars is probably the best example of IT nerds meeting film geeks, and that pairing continues with all the fan films. Projects like http://www.impstherelentless.com/ bring the best of garage coders, animators, and home movie people together. And everyone wants to document their Star Wars fandom, from http://www.starwoids.com/ to http://www.starwait.com/ to the most recent project, http://www.lininguptv.com/.
No video input, only out via Svideo and composite
It can be had on Ebay for $600 package deals.

coming soon on LiningUpTV is a show dedicated on how to build a lightsaber, with common household tools and a trip to Home Depot.
Posting this from the line in Hollywood - please bring bootleg as soon as available. We will watch it at Grauman's Chinese any way possible.
The facts are:
- Episode 1 was booked at Cinerama Dome
- Episode 2 was booked at Arclight Dome
- each time, a last minute deal was struck and Star Wars premiered at Grauman's Chinese
Who's to say this wont happen again? Also, George is infamous for his hardon for digital films - the Arclight does not have Digital Projection. Grauman's Chinese does. Vader's frickin footprints are at the Chinese Theatre.

Someone said I should sell these.
Hopefully Nintendo does not sue /. for use of that Linux penguin icon, which is an obvious ripoff of Super Mario 64's snow level character.

I nominate this story for shortest posted news item on /.
