Bullshit. Unless you shove a new executable down the players through every they want to play it's not going to work. And even in this case "pirates" will be able to create a frozen executable. It has been done before (say every day in the last 20 years). Even completely closed system have been cracked. Online distribution instead of offline distribution doesn't add any better anti-piracy features.
They shouldn't have annoyed the visitors anyway with annoying ads. Besides, there are other ways to track users without cookies. Or at least, most users don't use anonymous proxies anyway.
Here in the Netherlands the copyright law allows copying of various things for a couple of reasons. One of them those reasons is: education. So, unless you really want to have the book you could simply copy it for the course and throw it away when you're finished with it. Ofcourse with ebooks it's cheaper and faster to copy a book.
But the question is, for how long will this last. When will they realise that students still have money left for food.
People with a higher education usually get better jobs than pay more money. So those educated people will spend more money (for example on (more advanced) literature).
I like adventure games a lot, specially those with a bit of action in them (usually called Action\Adventure games).
One of the things that disturbes me most is the incorrect labeling of games as adventure games. Way to often games are labeled as adventure games while they are really just action games. Flipping switches doesn't make an game an adventure game (i.e. tomb Raider).
Besides this most gamers don't want to break a sweat by doing some brain activity. Or so it looks. It's not like there are a lot of good adventure games. Maybe it's because of the popularity of online gaming, adventure games don't work well for online games (hint hint, a new area to explore, e.g. true gaming inovation). Almost 10 years have past since the popularity of adventure games (or at least that's my opinion), maybe it's time for a true revival of that genre.
I'm specially looking for to good action\adventure games like Little Big Adventure, Dark Earth, Beyond Good & Evil (although the end of that game was rushed).
tsk tsk what a bullshit, draincleaner usually comes with a childsafety cap which is impossible to open by a minor. They should simply apply the same to the GTA:SA package (i.e. a child safety cap to open the package).
I'll stick with my current simple cheap keyboard (eur 10). I've gotten used to it, and when i'm somewhere else I can still use the keyboard in the same way I would do when I'm behind one of my computers at home.
Kids will only be digesting it if adults buy it for them. Presumably most kids too young to be (theoretically) impressionable enough to go out and kill cops becuase they played a videogame about it don't have the $70 for an Xbox game.
Thanks for the info, I'll install it right away. Never though of installing an ad blocker, but since it's apperently working very well I will now do so.
I don't know. So far Stan Lee's characters didn't have a lot of depth, they're quite flat. Pretty much all games these days have an extra dimension to think in.
Same here, not real issue for any of the machines I've upgraded.
However, I had to restart `apt-get dist-upgrade` 2 times because some upgrade process went wrong. But in the end it all worked. (Much like the `run live update a couple of times to get all updates`, or the `run windows update...`).
Bullshit.

The players should act now and massively cancel their accounts. The signal would be very clear.
The point to this article is for everybody to put their "witty remark"-skills to test on /.
/. as playground.
See it as a new game genre, using
Right now I'm a level 10 comment poster.
Well I did. I predicted all those things. But like usual great minds are not appreciated in their time.

Wait.. what did I miss...

a game with 'full-blown sex sequences' on a Nintendo console?
Judging from the screenshots I have my doubts. It's artsy style give it less details than a game from 1995.

Nice to see that some ISPs don't bend over at the first sight of a possible legal issue about one of their customers.
Oh wait, they did.
1. Donate older console to hospital
2. Hospital trades in console to $70
3. Hospital buys console via ebay for $40
4. Profit! (for the hospital)
What if MSN only gave results from webpages in 1990.
Ancient maps are pretty much useless for this perpose. (except maybe for nostalgia)

Massive has served over 6 million game sessions, and the gamer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
so, you're all wrong, people don't mind the ads.
The difference is simulated sex and real sex.
Simulated sex is much worse than real sex.
or was that the other way around?

that's a damn good deal, what where those new line people thinking when they signed it?
I wonder who took the initiative for this cut. Clearly somebody didn't think the movie would do well.

You forgot the fact that the game is rated M.

both my Gravis Gamepad and Gravis Gamepad Pro worked fine.
Just too bad this game it quite boring.
Actually, it was meant as a joke, e.g. 2D vs 3D
tbh, most game characters have even less depth than the average comic character.

More screenshots. It's only text.
I'm talking about this, sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't

Hmm... that's an interesting idea for an MMO version of SimTower.
Mind if I *borrow* your idea?
