This is the exact reason any Social Networking web site you belong to should not be readily identifiable to you. If things posted on your time (TFA didn't say it wasn't, so it's assumed) will get you canned. What right does the City have to monitor her private life like that? Was this a case of the City being "Big Brother" or did she show someone at work, and word spread? I'd like to know.
I think it was a good decision to protect their loyal user base. Imagine if you wanted said iPad but the store was sold out, and you paid twice what it would have cost you in the store. Now not only have you paid double the price for the device, but should something break or it need service under the warranty, you would have no warranty due to you buying from a 3rd party.
Debian Eee Gentoo Eee EasyPeasy
Ubuntu
Of course Ubuntu has a Eee flavor of the kernel, I chose to go a full blown Hardy Heron install on my netbook. I was given mine by a friend who was gonna throw it away. I removed the Xandros that was on it and installed Ubuntu and other than a bit of fun hacking around with it, it's quite useless other than using the terminal. Firefox on the web with it is crap, no memory whatsoever so if you have more than 1 tab open it takes forever to do anything. Forget about compiling something while websurfing cause that won't happen. My advice to people thinking about getting these, for the price if you double it, you get a pretty kick ass laptop these days. Go for the laptop, more power, more space, more ram, more CPU, more functional!
All these checks will they stop the bomb placed on the aircraft by the worker on the tarmac? Will they stop a pilot from crashing a plane cause terrorists have his family and will kill them if he doesn't? Will it stop a gun from getting on board?
Yeah I know alot of these scenarios are far fetched, about as far fetched as our need for a TSA, or for scanners for us to board a plane. Where will it stop? A full body scan to get into your local Starbucks?
Sound ridiculous? If it does, then that's about how ridiculous it sounds to have scanners at airports.
No matter the checks, the security, or what have you, people that wanted to hi-jack planes have always found ways, and always will.
"I guess you didn't read the news Aquaman washed up on shore with a few dolphins a few days ago." When questioned about the incident Aquaman responded by saying, "No matter how innocent it may seem, never accept an opened drink from a Bottlenose!". He then went on to comment how his anus hurt.
From the website: We have state of the art delivery systems for crabs. Our methods vary from the spy like to the bizaar. Get cut-off in traffic, no problem, just freeze some of the eggs in a bit of water, then toss the egg laden icecube into the passing vehicle, preferably on the drivers lap. Other methods, slingshot waterballoon delivery. And our personal fave, the bottle of body wash that has tons of fertilized eggs waiting inside to hatch. Order today. Pay-pal, and Visa accepted.
"Do parents get to provide any feedback on this rule?"
Considering the publicity that this school district is now getting for it's heavy handed sentances for a piece of candy, I'd say they will get alot of say. Especially seeing how Texas is a right to carry state.
Actually the court can keep him from touching a computer, and they may just do that.
Access to a computer is not a right protected by anything in the Bill of Rights.
Seeing how this is felony, they could take time served and make the remainder of his sentencing probation with the stipulation that he refrain from any computer related activity. In which case he uses or touches a computer of any type, if caught it's straight to federal prison.
I know right, I've live in the US and I've played on Jolt servers. Imagine, "Connection Dropped: due to packet loss, unable to complete left ventrical reconnection. Please try again in a few minutes". The worst would be if the IW devs had something to do with creating the system. Then you'd rejoin and be thrown into an appendix removal lobby instead of your bypass lobby.
Implanting an infected chip != first human infected with a computer virus.
At best he is the first human carrier of a computer virus.
Change the fucking channel.

Actually explosives are often used to stop rampant wells oil wells, usually though it's intended to out a fire in a well.
I'm ninja'd az broo!
Broo, you're ninja'd az!
I checked that site out. I think my fave buzzword phrase was "innovate turn-key bandwidth", though I read it as "innovate turkey bandwidth".

You mean Xbox junkies know how to use scripts? Amazing!

Well yeah because, xcopy "C:\backup\*" "H:\backup\" /s /y /e" is just so hard to type. Not to mention takes less time to actually move the data vs GUI.
I'm sorry but I think this story is wrong, and I believe that this all happened last night.
I didn't bother to RTFA, but last night TPB site would not resolve. Seeing this today, what was happening last night may be related.
Search people and luggage getting on an aircraft.
Search them for what? A bomb, a gun?

And people wonder why kids bring guns to school.
Would you consider using this salad spinner as a manual centrifuge to be fair use though?

Seems to me that by your admission, the hospital is in violation of HIPPA regulation just allowing alien computers onto it's network.
I'd consider myself lucky that your admins are dim enough to let you plug your personal computer in at the office so to speak.
First thing I thought of was "didn't Dr Octopus try this?" didn't it fail miserably.
I've not had to use one nor needed one since 1998.
