    If we dig deeper we may even find some threat to national security here.

    One of the other posters kind of suggested this: The national security threat might be that they don't want huge (dangerous) crowds at the doors of the low-cost leaders on the morning of Black Friday. That makes a lot of sense. . .Yeah, I think we can rationalize this. :)

    And as the above poster posted they're patented. . . .and typically the plants can't reproduce. So, these poor farmers have to buy new seeds every year. Agreed that this is a social problem, but I don't think it is _simply_ that they are afraid of them.

    is that they are trying to keep the Reeve[s] => Superman trend alive.

    i.e.:
    George Reeves => old Superman B&W show
    Christopher Reeve => Superman moves we know and love.
    Keanu Reeves => now.

    I guess it makes the decision for who to star easier on the producers.

    But the show's producer, Jim Henson TV, said the Australian-shot "Farscape" cost only about $1.5 million an episode, which is at least $500,000 an hour less than the production cost of the UPN primetime sci-fi series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Enterprise."

    I don't know about you, but I think it's better than Enterprise, and I won't comment on Buffy. :)

    Keep in mind that they moved Farscape from 9 => 10, and Stargate has more recently been at 9. Henson et al. said they lost younger viewers with the time change, and I know the time change tricked me into watching more SG than I wanted. (It's not bad, just nowhere near as good as Farscape.)
