The USA also tapped Soviet phone lines, in fact Reagan used the knowledge in Reykjavík during the talks to Gorbachev. The USA knew the Soviets military didn't want a War with the West, and never did, they were just scared of the West, just like the West was scared of the Soviet military block. You could say Reagan would never have reversed his position on détente. So sometime wiretapping does help but it never help wiretapping your own people, it just make them mistrustful of those in power.

Only the insane would willing switch to Comcast, I was switched to Comcast and my speed dropped and service has been horrible, my friend was off line for 3 days after doing what Comcast told him what to do for fixing his connection problems, and the problem wasn't on his side of the connection. The past 6 months I have had to call them 4 times, and they have yet to give me the correct answer the first time. Three of the times I fixed the problem and had to cancel a service call and the forth time, neither Comcast or me, know why the connection came back.

Now if Comcast stops screwing around with all the other traffic, I will be happy. My web browsing has hit a brick wall in last couple months, its been getting slower every month this year. My 'speed' is 10Mbps but its currently slower than when I first got cable, which was 2.0Mbps, average right now it is about 1.8Mbps. Last year I had a different cable company which was a good, Insight and Comcast traded areas and my city got the short end of the stick. Now if I could just get DSL, I would be happy.

My old disks for my Commodore 64 are still readable, the few I checked had at most one error, almost all of them didn't have any errors on them. The disks were Elephant Premium 5 1/4 inch disks, about $20 for a box of 10 disks. I bought them in 1984 or 1985. 3.5 inch disk are much more likely to have a problem but even those work great. All you have to do is clean the disk heads and that gets rid of most problem with old disks.
