I've got a pair of jeans bought from Club Monaco here in Canada about a year ago. Just recently I found one of those anti-theft devices sewn into the seam of one of the legs. Yeah, I know anti-theft devices are everywhere (in books, DVDs, CDs), but this is the first time I've seen them used this way in clothing. Usually, they are removable and taken out after purchase, but this one was sewn in there and kept in even after being disabled. Now, if I were paranoid, I might be more frightened by this finding...
I don't know about anybody else, but I like my time alone. I like to know that if I am out for a walk or doing something outside my home, no one (unless they are in my immediate vicinity) is going to interfere with that. I like to multi-task my work, but I don't like to multi-task my play.
"I am twelve years old and don't have a care in the world. Meanwhile, the burden of life is only now beginning to crush your soul... Oh fuck, what am I saying, that'll be me!"
Amen to that. Two things that I try to keep in mind today are:
1. The past is the past. You can't change it, so focus on the now. (Imagine what yourself 10 years from now would say to you, and do that.) 2. Don't ever compare yourself with others. We're all different and comparing usually leads to either over-confidence or reduced-confidence.
I'd tell myself to find out who I am and from that understanding, trust myself and not be swayed so easily by the masses. Truly look inside for peace and then once that's done, work on my relationships with others.
Also, get involved more. Join clubs and try to befriend everyone you meet, it'll make life more interesting.
Of course, such general advice can apply whether your 12, 32, or 72...

Please tell me this is just gibberish, or I will be forced to write a shell script that maps Dvorak chars to Qwerty chars. It's gibberish, right? Please, God, let it be gibberish!!
I'm only now playing it (got a DC a month ago) and I like it a lot, too, but agree that it could have been done better. I don't find the voice acting too bad. I'm glad the voice actor for Ryo actually does a good job with the Japanese names, although his lines often sound too rehearsed. The other stuff like being able to talk to anyone in town and hear them say *different* things based on what's going on is a nice touch.
The thing that I love about the game most is that the main character is a bad-ass with honor. Speaking as a small guy who could easily get his ass kicked in real life, there's nothing like strutting through town in the game knowing that you can kick anyone's ass, and with style! I know that most games the main character is like this, but it's more "believeable" in this game because of the realistic setting.
Just what I was thinking. This guy wouldn't like that at all.:-) That said, Shenmue did let you try again if you failed at some of the harder QTE sequences.
No kidding. If we want to just level up, we have Progress Quest for that.
However, because games and gamers have become more sophisticated, it's going to take an even better story to impress people nowadays. I mean, I remember when I first played Phantasy Star on the SMS years ago, I was gripped by the environment and the characters and it seemed like such a cool story at the time. But now when I fire it up in an emulator, the story seems kind of weak. Don't get me wrong, I still love the PS series, though.
If I see another game using the tired old cliche of collecting gems/crystals/whatever and combining them to defeat some evil dude, I'm going to scream.
I predict that, henceforth, these "The End of Moore's Law" articles will double in number every 18 months or so. Eventually all the posts we see on Slashdot will be about The End of Moore's Law. Furthermore, I propose we call this new law Les's Law.
Rute is a great guide in general and really helped me understand quite a few of the concepts. It gets straight to the point by going through common useages of commands. Plus, it's free and searchable.
Look for an old Dreamcast if you don't have one. I just bought one myself a few weeks ago and I can't stop playing it. There's tons of fun games for it and they are dirt cheap. Most of the games I've found have been around $15CDN.

And I see even users are in on the action with dupe jokes!
Ah, nothing like spending Saturday night at home posting (or reading) about hot cosplay chicks.
(But damn, the blonde is hot!)
Welcome to Amish Country.
I hear the volume goes up to 0x0B on that one.
Let it Rott was my favourite Rutles album.
I find it funny that EA has gotten to where they are by rehashing the same franchises year after year (NHL, anyone?).
Looks like they learned a thing or two from Disney!
I never liked John Dvorak's stupid newspaper articles.
Yes, but he's a hell of a typist!

I agree with this post.

In olden days, you give teacher an apple!
Wow, this is the first time ever that a joke was actually funnier after it was explained.
For a hellish vision of Mars, look no further than Mission to Mars. I could not sleep for days after seeing that. I mean, come on, crying aliens!?!?
Outside? Like this?

I highly recommend it.
When can we expect Y Windows to be released?
