It was Fox (studio) that pushed Whedon to add a third series even though he was already struggling to handle two. It was Fox (studio) that pushed Buffy to UPN (where it never lived up to expectations; further, it took away the popular Buffy/Angel crossovers).
I thought it was the WB that pushed Buffy away (maybe not to UPN explicitly). Like Angel, they just wanted to get 5 seasons of the show out so it could be syndicated and then they wanted to replace it with whatever pop-crap was in the pipe (so they could rush that out to syndication). If Fox (studio) pushed Buffy to UPN, it was only because they knew that Fox (network) would be death.
Which division runs FX though? They replay two episodes of Buffy daily, which is nice if you're home in the afternoon and need your Buffy fix.
I'm surprised that no one mentioned that the original plans for Star Wars Galaxies involved Jedi suffering from permadeath. Of course, since they are such an iconic class, and a reason a large number of people play the game, that has since changed, which only lends weight to the theory that permadeath is not viable in a commercial game.
When I was a kid, we named our pet parakeets Howard and Nestor because the blue parakeet (Nestor) had a feather that stuck out like Nestor's hair. After a few months, Howard died, (probably from biting on some metal ornaments) and then Nestor went soon after. That sucked. But the comics were cool.
Did you watch the Firefly DVD's? I didn't care much for Firefly based on what I managed to catch during its initial run, but after reluctantly watching the DVD's, I'm inclined to say that it would probably* rank up there with the best of Buffy or Angel. (*probably, only because it was cut off too short for all the plots to fully play out. Hence my interest in seeing the movie now.)
Blizzard is no different than any other company, they have no end game and they plan to cover for it by relying on PvP.
I keep hearing the term "endgame" when applied to MMO(RP)G's, (usually in PvP discussions like this), and I can't help but wonder what people are looking for as an "endgame". The whole point of an MMOG is to keep the subscription revenue flowing. If there is an endgame, then once that is achieved, why keep subscribing? I'm not saying that the endgame concept is impossible, though. I just don't understand what people are looking for.
This last year has been incredibly hard for me emotionally, facing the consequences of my bad choices, and I am hopeful for your support, but I'll understand if you want nothing to do with me.'
Apparently my ex got her break-up speech off the same warez site he did...
Sure, focus on Vader visiting the troops... I was in the town of Anchorhead on Tattooine when Princess Leia arrived to rally the rebel forces stationed there. Where's that press coverage?
I've never killed anyone. I've never shot a cop. I've never stolen a car. If I had killed someone, shot a cop, or stolen a car I'm sure it would be because I'm fucked in the head, not because of GTA3.
Sure, but think about the world that game teaches you about. You can kill people, but if you do it in front of the police, they will come after you. Then, you either have to outrun the police or you get arrested or die. In real life, its hard to outrun the police, and arrest or death aren't pleasant options. I'm more concerned about the fact that the game lets you get away with crimes the police don't know about (thus encouraging crimes that go unreported, in which case we'll never know of the game's effect) or the fact that most offenses less than assault go unchecked. Have you ever tried to drive legally in GTA? Its nearly impossible. The traffic is incredibly slow and the lights seem random. The game encourages you to drive like a maniac: speeding, running lights, ramming cars, and driving the wrong way up streets and wherever you please. If we need to look for the real affects of this game, we need to look at traffic violations, not murder.
Given that E3 happens in May, and that article is dated April of 2004, I would highly doubt Microsoft would start planning to announce their acquisition of Bioware over a year ahead of time.
I agree with you that everyone should find something else to do, but at the same time, when you are paying $15/mo. to play the game, if you set aside even one hour, let alone eight, to play the game, then you should be able to play. I'm sure Blizzard will continue to credit people for their downtime, but still, this isn't reflecting well upon them.
This is astroturfing, but not in the classic sense, since this is being done by the consumers in a volunteer grassroots effort. Now, if it turns out Sony is funding this whole thing behind the scenes...
The Queen knighted Molyneux expecting he will ride around on a horse and defend the crown and wear armour, but it turns out he's just going to keep on making video games. The Queen is going to apologize to Britain for getting everyone's hopes up and really just knighting some aging guy.
I think he meant trained actors in the traditional sense. When Mr. Nanny is your acting tour de force, there isn't much more to be said.
(Besides, Andy Kaufman was a comedian before he was a wrestler, and the Rock, who's career is at least successful enough that it continues, is the only guy on that list who could leave wrestling altogether to pursue acting - if you would argue that he hasn't already).
Besides, how could you forget Super Shredder from TMNT II?
The loss of the D-Pad makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint, but the loss of the A & B buttons? It seems silly for Nintendo to leave the X&Y or the C-buttons but get rid of the A&B, given their tie to history (unless this is just a gimmick to emphasize the "Revolution"). I'm thinking that if the A&B buttons are gone, then all buttons (save maybe one) are gone from the left side of the controller face. Everyone is thinking that Nintendo will still use the Analog pad, but given Nintendo's interest in the EyeToy (and again, the "Revolution" moniker), I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo foregoes controllers altogether on the next console. Not that I know what they'd replace them with...
I would think a better way to keep the customers happy would be to rebate everyone one day (or more) on their subscription whether they tried to log in or not. Isn't that what WoW did after they got bombarded during their first week? (WoW doesn't still have queue problems, do they?)

For me, Duke Nuken Forever is defined the Vaporware genre.
In fact, forget the Internet3!

The the autistic kid will get hit in the head with a golf ball, and when he wakes up he'll realize he's really Bob Newhart and this was all a dream...

There just are. Its like asking "Why is the sky blue?"
Wait a minute. . . The sky isn't one giant BSOD? Is it?

Bungie made Halo 2 and therefore is responsible for this spike. The Rare spike will occur when the new Conker game is released.

Sony doesn't count as a "large manufacturer"?
