I always thought that of all the companies to miss the Internet boat, Corel missed it the worst. Had they just gotten Mosaic to include support for .cdr files or maybe even just come out with a plugin early on they would have crushed Adobe.

It's about time that a vector based image was supported by a major browser. That makes so much sense... It's too bad Microslough won't support the same one. In fact I'd say this is a nail in the coffin for SVG... Microsoft will push their own version of SVG and all will be lost. Damn my daughter was right... I am in a bad mood today. :)

What possible reason could I have for trying 2003 server?

Maybe that warm and fuzzy feeling I've gotten thinking about Microsoft's great security since I started using Windows3.1 and connecting to the net via trumpet winsock?

When they came out with NT we were told that you couldn't play games on it because it was a serious os that wouldn't let apps access the hardware. I thought wow they're getting serious, cool and I signed up... a few updates later and you could make doom run on it.

How about the fact that even the newest versions of Windows can run on older/cheaper hardware? Oh wait nevermind.

How about that price... isn't it great! I'll tell my 16 person accounting office client how much they'll save by replacing their rock-solid Linux PDC with a Windows2003 server.

Or how about the way Microsoft has bought these anti-virus companies and that spyware company so they can help us work around these little problems for free? oh wait I've been hearing that subscription word, haven't I?

I could go on and on , but you completely missed the argument I was making so I'll try again.

Why in god's name would anyone run a web server with KDE installed and running, samba installed but not turned on, nfsd installed but not turned on, ntpd installed not but not turned on, alsa loaded but no speakers connected, cups installed but no printers, 3 different web browsers installed, 5 different mail clients installed 7 different news readers installed and about 30 hokey games installed on their server. Why that would be just stupid wouldn't you agree?

But at least with Linux/BSD/Solaris you can stop the gui, unload all the unused modules from the kernel, compile in only those modules you need and not allow other modules to be dynamically loaded. Delete the fucking kde/X folders (I used the word "folder" for your benefit) and still the machine will serve.

If you must use a gui to edit you zone files then fine but the focus should be on being a server not on making changes to the server's config. Why does the gui have to run all the time?

Why couldn't Microsoft spruce up Windows3.1 and you type win.com from the console (err I'm sorry, from dos), edit your files and then shut the gui off. Make the gui not network aware, not listen to any ports, just make it be a fancy regedit.

I write this post uisng Firefox on a dual-headed Windows XP Pro box. I only have 1 *nix workstation in the building and never use it. I was told that Iraq had something to do with 911 and had the capability to do much worse and would. Given that information, I was for the invasion of Iraq because it was retaliatory, not pre-emptive. Now that we've discovered that neither fact was true and made up, I'm against the war in Iraq and believe that the bush administration lied to us and should be impeached.

Now we're being told that sadam was an evil dictator and it was our duty to remove him from power and bring freedom to the Iraqi people. We're being told he was killing innocent Iraqi's and torturing them... I bet they're really glad that's not happening to them anymore.

If bush would have said "we're going to invade Iraq and take out sadam because he's trying to undermine our economy by selling oil for the euro rather than the dollar, because he tried to kill my daddy, because we need to insure that the American military has oil for years to come and because I owe some of my good ol' boys some favors and I want them to make a lot of money rebuilding Iraq." Then I would have been against the war, but would not have felt such an urgent need to impeach the bush administration. Likewise, if clinton had simply admitted "yep I got a bj" I'd have not felt the need to impeach him either. But they both lied to us and that cannot be tolerated in a democracy.

Before any of you right-wing nutcases think I'm some kind of a left-wing freak let me just say this... being against the war is not the same thing as being against American soldiers. I'm not the guy who's putting on a $50 million party to celebrate winning an election while the soldiers in Iraq don't have the armor they need. Let me also say that if you're going to do something, do it right... Bush Sr. should have finished the job.

The idea of a little war or police action is stupid... we need to get back to the basics of war... it's a freaking land grab and needs to be treated as such. In our civilized society we try to sugar coat it and try not claim Iraq for ourselves. We make sure that our puppets are the only ones running for election. If we get to the point were we need to use military might, the we need to do it up right and slaughter those who choose to fight us and claim the country for ourselves. However the way we do it nowadays is we put in a puppet dictator who, by definition, has no morals in the first place and wonder why they turn on us 10 or 20 years later. Of course the best thing to do, is try like hell to avoid war in the first place.

One of their theories was I had some disease where the iron build up in your bloodstream and were getting ready to start the bloodletting when someone realized that the amount of iron reported on my blood test was impossibly high... so did they do another test?? hell no, since the iron levels were too high to be possible then it must be impossible for them to be reasonably high. Of couse I researched that disease (I can't remember the name) and the symptoms didn't match up to mine in the least anyway.

The problem with antibiotics is mis-use... First off don't take anyhting until you absolutly have to and then make damn sure you take enough to kill every last germ before stopping.
