    Therefore - the absence of proof that this is the case is proof that the Abrahamic god does not exist. While obviously this cannot be taken as absolute proof against the existence of the god, to say that there is no proof is just as wrong.

    This fundamental argument seems to be lost on many that hide behind the lack of "proof" against a god. While one can argue that the god is trying to hide, I find this unlikely. Why would the Abrahamic god try to hide after all of the interference done in the Bible? It is contradictory to the core beliefs of the Abrahamic religions. Ergo, there is strong proof against the existence of the Abrahamic god

    That said, I get infuriated by the foreign students who come to the US, and spend all their time hanging with their countrymen, speaking their native language.

    Yeah, and they REALLY shine at night when the logo on the back illuminates!

    By the way, I recently put my own machine together. My ThermalTake case had no stickers on it.
    I know it's not the same as buying a laptop but you can get nice looking PCs. :-)

    When you have trillions of dollars being spent-- none for inarguably constitutional uses such as defense-- and a big tax hike across the board, that's redistribution of wealth by definition.

    You say that like it's a bad thing. With no wealth redistribution, the wealth will, invariably, slowly but surely concentrate in an extremely small number of hands at the top of society, leaving everybody else in the shit.

    Sorry to be a bore here, but for non-Americans, can you explain why you measure your liquid amounts in ounces? Isn't that a measurement of weight, as opposed to pints or litres?

    Also, only the us uses 'proof'.

    Basically what I'm saying is, what is 1.5oz of 80 proof drink when expressed using litres and % alcoholic volume?

    Am I missing something here? Keep the existing black box tech, you don't have to remove it, but *simultaneously* transmit the info where possible. That way you have the best of both worlds.

    By the way, there was some ACARS info transmitted for Air France Flight 447, which people have talked little about. ACARS seems like the kind of thing that's needed, just ramp up the information being transmitted... can't you do that?

    No, it's that it's unethical to say you own "your creation" when in fact you just discovered what is already there.

    Just to be anal, nobody really ever discovers anything... they just manipulate and put together particles that were already there in a particular configuration. ;-)

    The irony is that some fuels we call 'renewable' aren't... solar is just used up once we've absorbed it... and most fossil fuels are ultimately renewable, if over millions of years.

    It's an unfortunate term. 'Sustainable' is better. :-)

    I still don't understand why someone didn't just rewrite the code from scratch, using the original as a spec. The original code was released 25 years ago, and is not that huge an amount of code.

    This just goes to show how silly it is to be able to copyright and 'own' code. There's a perfectly good implementation of something, but copyright says that in order not to infringe you need to sort of rewrite it and sort of use different variable names and.... ultimately, the code has exactly the same behaviour. At what point does it stop being a copy and start being an original work?
