In the time you spent enabling your journal, I searched craigslist for a used Palm 680, found a guy selling it, met up with him for a coffee and bought it. I learnt how to use it, and also got his sister's number and met up with her. She was nice, and I'm now posting to Slashdot from said Palm 680 in her bed. Hope you enjoyed the journal thing, anyway.
So you just want everything for free, right? Google are supposed to eat air or something, and have nothing to work with, because you won't accept their main source of revenue?
Seriously, can't you people think for a second of consequences?
Seriously, though, I think Apple missed a trick here. I'm really hoping they'll invent the iNothing. People are regularly asking what could be simpler than a wheel, and whilst I agree that they have got it down quite nicely, they could go further.
With the iNothing, you don't have the hassle of using the wheel or viewing a screen, you just have to do nothing! Now it really doesn't get simpler than that. I'd pay $5000 for that, minimum!
It makes great conversation over dinner. What's the point of asking your buddy how the kids are if you receive updates over twitter every time little Tommy burps?
Because then over dinner you can ask how *loud* he burped. And what, if anything, came up.
If only they were using a real ACID database, with real logging and rollback, such as oracle or MS sql server. Properly configured, they are very handy.
But still no comparison to tape backup.
Yeah.
A database might actually stand a chance of being readable in case of an emergency.
I knew this would come up; however it looks like it's the Georgian government doing this, so constitutionality doesn't apply, "don't like it, move to another state" does.
The best new feature of Vista, and it really, really is a nice one, is the instant Start Menu search. You can be SO fast at starting programs or finding files by just hitting the Windows key and typing the first few letters.
The trouble is, the only reason it needs speeding up a lot is because MS slowed down the Start Menu a lot by totally fucking in up in Vista.
The consequence being that the "public opinion" - whichever way it comes out - will be decided by a small, ignorant, but vocal minority who have their own agenda or fears.
Microsoft just doesn't get it. If you can't get your service to work with all major browsers, your service is going to be seen as inferior, not the browser.
Tell that to Google. Google Maps has had this bug in Google Maps for YEARS now that causes printing in Firefox to be broken (because Firefox actually does things correctly), yet to look OK in IE6 and IE7. Do people think Google Maps is inferior? Hell, it doesn't work AT ALL in Opera.
Why did Google remove (some time ago now I know) the browser and OS stats from their Zeitgeist? I can't think of a site that would have more accurate data than them, yet they removed them.:-( I know that there were bound to be some inaccuracies owing to incorrect browser reporting of these things, but not too many, and I thought the Zeitgeist lost a lot when they removed them.
Slashdot's pretty greedy these days; there's ads in my RSS feed from Slashdot.
Yes. How greedy of them to be sending you free content in a format you don't think is 100% ideal to you.

Show that you can word with others
Word.

"It sounds extreme, but the only way to be 100% safe is to smash your hard drive into smithereens."
And I know of a great way to do that.
Hey, you don't have to turn off American Idol to vote. You can pick up the phone whilst watching!

If I want nature, there's also lots of green spaces (more than any other city, apparently). The only downside is the traffic pollution (ban cars!)
Ken Livingstone, is that you?

'Something cool' would seem to be the sensible choice in that case. :-P
I used to think V for Vendetta was fiction. It's starting to look like a documentary.
Oh, come on. I think that's a major overreaction.
The houses of parliament are still in one piece.
The copyright on that code ended in 2007, so the code hasn't been edited since then.
Copyright doesn't 'end'. It's somewhat erroneous even to put a 'until' year into a copyrighted work; just put the start year.
PS: 4/12 is not 50%.
He used Excel to calculate it.

Like Slashdotters?
this opens the door to ISP blocking of all sorts of different on-line services that these Big Players are steaking their futures on.
They're opening some kind of food website?

Looks like they removed it to work on that accidental-posting bug...
Dunno why this was modded funny... have they seriously disabled that? If so, why???
Can we have it in 100 different languages? ... Well then can we have it in English? :-)
Drugs are bad.
No, drugs are not inherently bad any more than any other tool is. This is an ignorant statement.
Women will get so desperate they can't resist any male guy! My plan is all falling to place. Muahahahahaa.
