Ahh, it's got apple in the web address, an Apple icon as the first tab, "visit the Apple Store online" at the bottom along with "1-800-MY-APPLE" and "Copyright 2004 Apple Computer Inc". It also says that it uses the "Apple lossless encoder"... Yeah, they've been very careful to maintain the separation.
And the Apple share price has been doing so well lately.
Yeah?! When was the last time you downloaded something off of suprnova.org? The 700MB movies off of that (DVD rips) look fantastic! A lot better than VHS in my opinion.
Perhaps you are thinking of divx files from a couple of years ago...?
Why can't you specify the RAID drivers install from a CD? I guess you need some drivers for that too... isn't there some default dumb driver(s) that will work with CD roms? I know I can boot into DOS with CD Rom support (shiiiit, I said the D word).
Great, so we will waste our computer cycles on trying to find some combination of something in our DNA that happens to have the word "Alien" (or "beam me up" or something) in it, if you re-arrange and skip enough stuff and substitute enough letters.
I read an interesting comment from someone the other day that high end prescription drugs wouldn't exist in the first place if it wasn't for the fact that companies know they can patient the drug and make millions... perhaps the drugs would come about one day, but further off in the future... vicious circle.
Perhaps we would have to rely in government paying for all the drug research?
Haha! That is actually very well written. Beauty in simplicity. Cheers for posting something that actually made me laugh a bit, first time in a long time reading crashdot
I agree, the level of service in the UK is abysmal for most things (just try getting your washing machine fixed within 6 weeks), like ADSL.
But broadband in the UK is still far better than a lot of countries, as far as speed and price is concerned. Just look at good ol' New Zealand... poor bastards, won't be going back there to live until they sort that shit out. Expensive and slow, with capped international rates.
Does TiVo play all the formats of video I download off of suprnova? I love downloading what I want as soon as it comes out in the states, weeks/months before the UK (no TiVo can do that). I've got my "quiet" PC sitting next to my TV, fantastic for playing back what you want, when you want. Also fantastic for playing back music through the stereo, photos on the tv, etc.
Crap playing back computer games on the TV though, text too small usually. I've got an LCD screen on a 6 meter SVGA lead running round the room to my couch for that, can't see any ghosting at all either.
Those of us in the world who have entrusted our governments with the sole power of lethal force are in far more danger than those places where good citizens are trusted to have the ability to defend themselves and their families. History is pretty clear on this
Don't the people in Iraq run around with guns too, just like America?
I've had my hotmail account for god knows how long now. Was weighing up the pain I would have to go through to notify everyone of a new address and keep checking my hotmail one for a few months after a change over. Now I'll have enough space to hold all the spam I get when I go away on holiday, so no worries!
Now I just have to consider weather GMails interface is gonna be worth the change...
I've been considering an iPaq or something with a 1 or 2 GB compact flash in it... how long does the battery last in your PDA when watching videos, do you easily get two episodes of South Park? Do you think it would last for a movie or two? What's your experence been like...?
I fully agree. I used Tesco online all the time when I lived out of walking distance from one. Fantastic, I could stock up on a fortnight of all the heavy stuff, boxes of coke, tins, etc. They deliver into your kitchen on a sack-barrow from the truck. So easy, especially when you're damn busy.
I don't think I'll every buy another product from a computer store!!! Far to expensive. Check out the products in the stores and buy online (unless it's an immediate need), like ebuyer.com, eBay or try google.
The only easy way I can see for getting timely and up to date books on computer related stuff would be eBooks... Would be nice if a bunch of Libraries (international even?!) decided on what books have content that changes rapidly, then had a central repository which they could all access. Then you could use those computers in Libraries for browsing and printing from them, as well as email, games, etc. Perhaps this is already happening?! Been a long time since I've been in a Library;-)

When did you last try installing one of the codec packs? I've haven't had a problem over the last year or two, work like a charm.
And the Apple share price has been doing so well lately.
Not lived up to its expectactions? Damn, have you actually played the game? Better than I thought it would be, I actually BROUGHT it!!!
I guess you are new to this computer fad?
Perhaps you are thinking of divx files from a couple of years ago...?
from the article: "Locking down the access points does not help this problem, but actually makes it even worse."

no bit-torrent then?! :-)
Do you have an example rendering of an architectural fly-through movie?
Been playing Doom3 with that setup. Recommended.
Wouldn't say they are better than a £50,000 speaker setup, but great hearing monsters behind you and doesn't annoy the flatmates ;-)
I wonder if it's got something to do with how long you've had your account open. I've had my hotmail account for years
My hotmail account went to 250MB a couple of days ago... I assume they are moving them over slowly for some reason

Bollocks.

Personally, I think the UK could be a fairly prime contender for Korea style broadband. High population density, not a large land mass... bring it on!

I also quite like BSPlayer that comes with it.
