They provide lower quality, AND they don't meet up to modern-day standards
It only mean less space. How much more expensive is to bundle 2 or 3 discs in the case instead of one? Very little, so it's really not a problem.
Plus, the loading times of those discs are MUCH faster than what I see on the xbox and ps2. The biggest one i've seen on the cube was with resident evil 4, and that means maybe 5 seconds to load a huge and texture heavy area.
I work at a store as a cashier and my experience with credit cards is that clients sometimes laught at me or are annoyed that I ask for some ID when the credit card's signature is all washed out. The thing is, they don't seem to understand that by doing that, I protect them (indirectly perhaps) from credit card thief. But nooooooo, instead I get a frowning face, insults or just plain dumb remarks like "but why"? well duh!
Wow, your comment was modded insightful. insightful for god's sake.
You know, there is alot of english words coming from computer science, words that have/had no equivalent in french, and you consider the translation process of those words to be a silly one. I mean, please explain to me why.
If you don't really care that your language is full of words from other languages that's fine, but why on earth should translating 'email' to 'courriel' (witch, btw, was commonly used before it became officialy accepted***) is surely the idea of some "stuck-up idiots"?
And to those who thinks that we refuse that our language evolves, well you're wrong: inventing new words that are the french equivalent of english words is making the language evolve, in a slower but maybe more accurate way ("distinctly French" as he puts it).
*** in quebec at least, don't really know about France.
Do you have a reference for that on the web? I keep telling my friend about this working title, but he just won't believed me because i cant seem to find any evidence.
As far as i'm concern, the dreamcast has not failed because of some "Overly active marketing guy from Japanese Company" doing a great speach at e3. The dreamcast failed because of a series of bad moves (segacd, 32x, staturn) deterioring comsummers trust, and also because of the PS2 anticipation.
So what is your point exaclty? The DS will fail because history teached us that a great demonstration at e3 will kill your product?
You have to remember that there is only ONE parking meter per street corner, not the usual one per car.

When Windows 2000 came out here, the French version was several months behind...and it was more Parisienne French instead of Quebecois French, which was what was promised.
But what is the difference with linux here? As far as I know, kde-francophone consist mostly of French people (from France) and the translation of the 2 months old kde 3.2 is not finished yet.
The console industry lived without those for quite some time already. Maybe it's time for PC game maker to actualy test their game before releasing them.
disclamer: all of those ideas are taken from an earlier comment on a earlier story witch I can't remember.
Maybe we are getting all wrong with the joe-user-can't-install-it's-video-drivers.
Look at knoppix. A bootable cd with a linux kernel and kde inside. It auto detects everything and without even touching your hd you run a kde sessions. Every Joe User on earth can do just that. Put the goddamn cd in the drive and reboot.
Now think of a system that consist of a custom linux kernel designed to run your game you develop, with a good auto-detect alrgorithm to support the bare minimum it needs (audio, video, maybe networking). You then have a system to write games on multi platforms. You (almost) only have to burn your iso to special medias (like for the cube) so your game works on the various console.
One OS on witch you develop your games, multiple systems on witch your game runs with minimum effort. Add the ability to save on a usb key and you just turn your PC into a console: just put the goddamn cd into the drive and play. No install, no crazy shit with the registery, no dll hell, no minimum requirement for DirectX, etc...
Well, this OS can be linux, and with that in mind Joe User wont have to install linux at, but yet you got games that could run natively on linux, if you configure your system correctly.
I don't know if that's really a possibility, but it's fun to think about it.
Man, why on earth did they cencored this? You only see a computer generated naked butt for half a second! Come on! Please, don't look at MTV, you'll have a heart attack!
In RPGs you could constantly have your stats/inventory open
And that's exactly how the multi-player aspect of the upcoming FF works. Everyone look at the TV screen when playing, but you look on your gba to browse your inventory with the help of the GBA->GC connectivity.
Neat idea, maybe we'll see some multi player RPG from nintendo. Let's just hope it's not always with mario:)
it is impossible to realease up to date binary drivers for linux without having to constantly maintain 100 different versions for all the different kernel builds
why is that so? it's been a few years that nvidia does so.
Yes, that does make the master key useless for it's intended purpose.:)
There is something wrong with all this. Can someone explain to me what you could do with a DRM enabled kernel with the private key beign... public?
nevermind. The screen is in fact the same resolution of the gba, but quite smaller.
I've seen the conference, and from what I understood it actualy is a GBA in a new form factor. So the screen should be the same as a regular GBA.
And to think, his original name was PuckMan.
yep, and they changed it because it was such a obvious target for kiddies who would have scratch part of the 'P'.
*wink* *wink*

Credit cards needs a serious security upgrade.

It's a sad sad day for 50% of America.
You mean it's a happy happy day for 50% of American and a sad sad day FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD.

What if I want them to search my mail in advance?
1. define your search criteria and save them.
2. check the "apply search on log in" option.
This was modded funny, but I feel that this is the sad truth. For the american market at least.
here
Now, whats the deal with the antenna to mars?

Two major issues:
1) How do you issue a patch?
The console industry lived without those for quite some time already. Maybe it's time for PC game maker to actualy test their game before releasing them.
2) How do you support future hardware?
er, hmm.. I'm f*cked!

Yes, and if they're smart, they could also put some cell phone technology in it. This could be the their 'online' move, who knows?
ebuilds have been available since yesterday, thanks to caleb. Just 'emerge sync'.

the football players burn out but the nerds become sexy!
I want to say something intelligent: woohoo!.
