Educated people are more likely to be Republicans. This has to do with all sorts of things, the most important of which is probably that people with more money tend to be both better-educated, and Republican.
A lot of Republicans like to see the relationship between education and party affiliation to be causal, but I've never seen evidence for that. Meanwhile, the fact that scientists tend to lean to the left shows that intelligent people can, in fact, be "leftists".
Simply by having a "winner-take-all" scenario for most things and requiring majorities in certain places, the 2 party system falls out pretty naturally.
That wasn't known when the Constitution was written. Game theory, which proves your assertion, was developed much later.
In general, it's very hard to prove intent for anything, let alone a historical question. On matters in which one is ignorant, I find it's best remain silent, read, and learn from the people who actually know something. (Note that, in the rest of this discussion, I generally don't count myself among those people.)
You do know that 99% of the D's voted for it, don't you? Both sides love the law.
Does that somehow make it a good law? Have you considered what this law [the so-called 'PATRIOT' Act] allows our government to do?
Okay, torture is legal as long as we claim the victim is a "terrorist", a term which we define. Fourth-amendment rights are forfeit as long as the victim is a "terrorist". etc. Please to be explaining how this is a good thing.
No, I don't like the Democratic party. I just happen to think the Republican party is worse. Let's say, down with the two-party system, up with a revolution--but in the meantime, I'll go with Kerry, if only for the sake of change.
But with property tax, business licenses, sales tax, etc the way they are...
Okay. Let's say without...where do you get that plot of land?
In yesterday's capital-based society, you had to have money to get land. In the day-before-yesterday's land-based economy, you had to have land to get more. In today's economay, you have to have information to get more of anything. In any case, how do you propose someone without any of the above get a "little plot of land"?
I agree that nobody "should" feel like they have to take a job or starve, but that doesn't change the fact that they do have to, at least in a capitalistic system. "To each according to his needs, from each according to his abilities" sounds like what you're advocating--except that that's a Marxist philosophy, totally contrary to what most Americans (claim) to adhere to.
While I generally agree with your ideology, it's overly simlistic.
I like the.simplistic.sig to go with the simplistic ideology. Just make it a simplified slogan instead of a statement fully representative of the way you think. That's what.sigs are supposed to be.
Species are generally differentiated by the inability of a member of one species to mate with a member of another to produce viable offspring. As far as I know, there are no cases of interracial couples failing to reproduce (for that reason, anyway) or producing mules. Take your racist FUD elsewhere.
I don't know if it applies to all ham bands, but several only require unlicensed users to keep to low-power rigs. Considering that higher power can make an antenna dangerous or deadly to touch while transmitting, I think requiring a test of your electrical engineering knowledge before allowing you to use such equipment is reasonable. Sort of like getting a driver's license, and I would not be the first to suggest on/. a similar policy for licensing Internet use.

they voted against the iraq war even though they probably wanted it - to win elections.
Sounds like democracy to me. The people opposed the war, thus the country opposed the war. Some politicians got reelected by being responsive to the wishes of the populous. That's how it's supposed to happen.

People replying to my sig annoy me. That's why I change it all the time.
I want to see what you'll change it to once I post this.
To do that they would have to mandate equipment that could only play media licensed by their members, and I don't think anything passed so far is that draconian.
Don't give Sony any ideas -- think of Sony Music and the MiniDisc.
Or Microsoft. They could just buy a record album or five, and all major music would be Microsoft-branded--and come in WMA format only.
I'd go for choice 4. At worst, at least it's compatible with the others.
But really, why do people say "they're on crack" when they hear about somebody doing something bizarre? Crack and cocaine are just stimulants; all they really do is give you more energy. If somebody's acting totally bizarre, I'd say psilocybin, mescaline and d-lysergic acid are better bets. If they're acting really dumb, they're probably just on alcohol or tetrahydrocannabinol (and other cannabinoids).
Now, if they're talking quickly and jittering, I'd be more inclined to suspect coke, crack, amphetamine/methamphetamine, ritalin, caffeine, or similar drugs. Stealing network cards from a datacenter, though--I'd say somebody came up with that idea under the influence of good ol' cannabis.
So I'd go for choice 4, but I'd modify it to "the whole world is stoned".
Sure, but they aren't participating in double-blind studies, are they? They're just saying "I can tell the difference!" and no matter how much they try, their expectations will affect the results of their "studies".
Exactly. My parents thought I was nuts at first for naming our Power Mac G4 "Arthur" and our Performa 6400 "Algernon". Now, however, my mom's PowerBook G3 is Isabella, while my dad's new PMG4 is Julius with a hard drive named Calpurnia. The laser printer is Herbert.
Of course, when I come home and bring Louise, it adds a whole slew of hard drive names--Guenevere, Agamemnon and Esmerelda--that nobody but me can keep track of.
As I'm sure someone will complain if I don't mention it, I will warn you that the Web site is very poorly designed. However, if you're willing to dig for it, there is a wealth of information in the Erowid Psychoactive Vaults on how to use drugs without getting killed, which drugs to use for what ends, and where to look for more information on a given drug.

rolling that natural 20
Oh man...I know I'm not the only (former or otherwise) D&D-player in the room. Does "natural 20" even have a meaning outside that game?
(Mods:) Please note that I am (even) drunker than usual.

When meta-modding, how are you supposed to know if a redundant moderation is fair or not without reading way too much?
That's why I haven't been meta-modding redundant posts lately. I just leave the radio button where it is, and don't mod anything Redundant.
