All they did was paste a code in that they no dobt generated from a legit box. This is that 'crack' that came out way back when, where you generate the code on a genuine box, and then enter the code that comes back in the pop up box. I don't believe it checked what OS you were running, it just did a checksum against the code you entered. While certainly amusing and somewhat embarrasing on the surface for MS, it didn't really prove anything.
Funny how quickly the MS bashing begins, yet when I just tried the Acid2 test with Firefox (my browser of choice btw), the results were far from impressive. And correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know Acid2 isn't an officially accepted standard, it's a *proposed* standard.
I think MS may be hedging their bets on this one. There's still a ton of talk going on about which format to go with as the standard (HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray vs. some hybrid version). By holding off a bit, they still get to market ahead of Sony and depending on when/if a format is chosen, they can put out a drive that is supported by the 360 with a simple software update. If they put in an HD-DVD drive now, they're stuck with it (and possible a dead format).
I think Godwin needs to come up with another law, the one that says at some point in a discussion, someone will find a way to point the finger of blame at Microsoft.
Obviously it's not the fault of the Agilent analyzer, Microsoft is involved here in some way! It just *has* to be their fault!! God forbid that anybody else be to blame for stuff like this, the world would just end otherwise!
They're just doing this so they can catch all of us...err, I mean, all the people who have multiple GMail accounts. They'll get us...err, all of the people who do a massive batch mail check at once!:)
"All thats required is a couple of lines in Global.asax. Thats hadly a rewrite."
No no no, I'm afraid we can't allow that. This is a MS bashing story, you can only submit such insightful and logical suggestions on *Nix flaw stories:)
Boy, and to think everybody here thought Microsoft taking over the browser market was a bad thing:)
Guess they figured out a way to copyright the letter "i" after all!
Will Sony face future repercussions for this potentially long-term damage?
Of course not. They may pay a (relatively) small fine or two, but a quick a donation to a politician here and there, and that'll be all she wrote.
or some fake. How to tell?
Wait for the dupe?

What, you don't think you are already? I know damn well that 90% of the people I see on the road daily haven't got a clue how to drive.
Does it come with 5.1 Dolby Surround? :)

Hey now, don't let a little thing like facts get in the way of a good MS bashing on Slashdot.

I'm sorry, but Jif kicks Skippy's ass :)
Well, Taco and Zonk are anyway.
Have you checked on him lately?
I just love how :
:
"Apple, the Mozilla Foundation and Opera--is
threatening to revolt over electronic forms standards."
suddenly becomes Microsoft's fault
"an outcome that has browser makers and others worried about the role of Microsoft."
Geezus guys, feeling a little insecure are we?
Guess that means it's time once again for your basic CmdrTaco/CowboyNeal Windows flamebaiting story of the week.
Nothing to see here folks, move along...
There's probably quite a few... but since they're no longer on the 'Net, they can't tell us :)
My god people, there are other letters in the alphabet besides 'K'! Use them!
If MS does nothing about spyware and crap, people bitch about MS not caring. If they do something like this, people complain they're anti-competitive.
Imagine a character with the looks of Jessica Simpson, the voice of James Earl Jones
So we end up with what, Indiana Jones And The Attack of the 50 Ft. She-Male?
