Idk where you're at but the only stickers we're required to have on our cars is the city/village tax sticker and the license plate sticker. No inspection stickers around here (Illinois). We're, however, required to carry a card saying we passed emissions (no general "safety inspection", though).

Destroy ClearChannel...Replace them with small local stations that are in tune with their audience.

Sadly, that wouldn't do much because the small stations you are talking about are almost also controlled by another one of the big companies (Entercom, Saga, ABC, Emmis, etc). The point is, there are very few small and locally owned radio stations anymore, especially if you're talking about a major market and the ones that are belong to the colleges and are up in the 88.1-91.9 part of the FM band, have a few hundred watts, if they're lucky (esp in big markets) and no one listens to them anyway.

Major Market Example: Chicago...NO LOCALLY OWNED COMMERCIAL STATIONS IN THE FM BAND. Go a bit lower to Milwaukee and you see that in the FM band, the only locally owned station belongs to some crackpot preacher guy. Not much chance of music being promoted there, huh?

Hmm.. Their desktops aren't bad. I have a 4 year old "Digital Studio" box sitting in front of me (well, actually, behind the Powerbook that i'm typing this on). The desktop still runs just fine on the ORIGINAL INSTALL of Win 98SE to be used for AIM & Web browsing. On top of that, I know someone who's got a VAIO subnotebook. She loves it. The only complaint she's had is that it's a bit slow. Other than that, she wouldn't think of getting rid of it.

As for their CLIE's.. I had one.. It sucked (problems getting it to sync with iSync on OS-X).. I moved onto a Sharp Zaurus which I love (and uses things other than the %^&*(*$% memory sticks)

Cybershots...I have one, also 4 years old, still works just fine, but I could use a camera that doesn't use memory sticks.

Part 15 of the FCC rules cover unlicensed broadcasting.. You can basically use something like a 100th of a watt without an FCC license. I don't know all of the details, but their site could tell you.

Just out of curiosity, you say that IC sells spots to stations, do they then own them outright? Here in the states the airwaves (theoretically) are publically owned. Each station is granted a license for a specific period of time, which is of course renewable. In the "old days" you actually had to show you did public service and community interest programming, among other thigns, before the FCC would renew the license.. Now, it's pretty much a given that you'll be renewed unless you did something really, really wrong

In the place I used to work, the data center was right next to the help desk. (I worked in the help desk)

I think that the datacenter was physically more secure than the actual systems in there. I mean, it was ID Access at all doors (you had to have your card specifically programmed for those doors) and the only people with keys was the head operator, the networking people, the CIO and her administrative assistants (who had the master building keys in their office)

We actually had problems getting in there ourselves (we printed to a printer in the data center for some reason and not the printer in the office that we were attached to where the manager/analyst were at). Ok,, Our problem was mostly faulty equipment (our card reader sucked!) but the entire thing is still between 2 locked doors in most spots.
