Is this what "normal" people really like? Legaly Blonde? Give me a friggen break!! And people think Hollywood is hurting from the internet. They are just producing crap!!!!
I've downloaded some song that I've purchased on previously on vinyl and ended up not being able to get a full album so I went out and found it on CD. I also have some CD's that are scratched and I had to purchase the cd again, now that I can back my music up and listen to everything off the computer I wont scratch the cd. I think sales will definately go down if there is copy protection on CD's because people don't want to give up on only being able to listen to music on a micro$oft approved cd player.
I wonder if every lab has that kind of budget to buy odds and ends just to take apart and see how they work? I think there should be more labs like this in more places around the world.
The worst thing about the Bug is that "Exploit has only been tested on fully patched IE 6.0, with Win XP and Win2000 pro" I cant wait to automatically install Gator when I accidently click a popunder advertisment and try to back out of it. I guess I should update my IE 6.0... Oh wait that doesn't work.....
I'm confused on how this solution can "drastically reduce client license costs" or at least from the Citrix box, I have to buy a Terminal Service Licence, Client Access Licence, End User Licence (for every application used), an Exchange CAL, etc... for every citrix user.
I would like to get them to use alternative solutions to all of their software needs but that is too much for me to ask, so I can start by using a *NIX box for file and print (SAMBA), then possibly Sendmail instead of Exchange (they dont even use *all* the *features* anyway), and then eventually some day I will be able to give them a Linux desktop with Ximian Evolution and Star Office but I know the desktop will be a battle and I need to gradually get them weened, but until then I'm stuck with Windows.
I know I can use Citrix to serve them Outlook, Word, and Excel but they wouldn't be to open to the idea and I can't hire 10 Linux help desk people.
An MIS would probably be the best in your situation considering most people you will be working with (clients or management) will have more business knowledge than technical knowledge, and it seems like I've gotten more technical knowledge on my own than from any school (that I can afford to go to). Also most people I've worked can't differentiate between the three degrees.
Not to sound like an ass, but this is the best article I've read on Slashdot for quite some time. So when I want more information on the subject I was hoping to find some intelligent or at least funny conversation and most of the posts are crap, just when my 3 day moderating period has ended. I wish some people would just read the linked articles before posting!
Hopefully artists trying to decide between two labels will decide that it doesn't want copy protected CD's because it could affect the bands popularity. I know I've bought more music after being able to download and listen to music first (I don't have all day to hang out in Tower and listen to an album in a listening booth).
Oh sure there are quite a few features, but only about 1% of the people at our office use them, and then ask why the feature doesn't work like they want it to(and training doesn't work because if they have any questions the IT dept will help, thats what their there for, so why waste time in training).
I wonder what Craig Mundies thoughts are now?

I wonder if Craig Mundie still thinks Linux is bad for companies and countries too.
In many parts of the country (or at least here in Northern CA) there is a shortage of teachers, if you have a Bachelors degree you can substitute teach anywhere teaching almost anything. It seems like it would be a good way to clear your head and do something good at the same time.
I think this is excellent for all schools except grade schools (K-12) where it's advertisers are Pepsi and Coke (as it is in some Northern Californian classrooms). These kids are too impressionable and drinking sodas all day isn't too good for them or the teachers. But when it comes to colleges I think the students have enough knowledge to know better. I wouldn't buy Laramie smokes because my monitor told me to.

I spent most of my time on my C-64 on Thrasher Magazine's BBS.

Would this make them the largest supporter of Linux?? Or is that still IBM? It will be a good thing for Linux anyway.
Now if we could just get Macromedia (Freehand & Flash) in on this, I wouldn't have to dual boot:)

Creative Labs must have bought these Slashvertisments in bulk.

Is this one of those paid advertisment/article things????
I actually got to name our Exchange server Uranus and I map the "Everyone" drive (from our file/print server) to the letter F:

More like barbwire around our houses (and schools).
Recorded Simpsons (and what I have recorded of Futurama)
A really *good* use would be casinos deciding to give you the visine drink for not having enough cash.

A perfect reason to rack mount all your computers in one of those Anvil cases.
