I remember reading schematics for a nes copier. Basically, you would rip apart a nes console, solder a bit to make a parallell port connection, and use a program to store the roms in nes format. Tragically I can't find the page now, sorry.
Have you tried disabling javaScript? It's a often used method to keep people from downloading images. Sometimes, with the weaker scripts you can press and hold right mouse, press escape and release right mouse to bring up the blocked rightclick menu.
Sweden has a quite good position when it comes to Computer knowledge. However, certain authorities are somewhat ludditic. In Sweden we have an authority called The Datainpection (translated straght over) which is to handle policys for IT. This authority is notorious for it's lack of competence and outrageous suggestions. It's director-general once went to press, saying something like "Don't buy your kids modems. The last thing we want is to create a generation of hackers." This was somewhere around mod-nineties, just as Internet had begun to catch on...
The data-inspection was also responsible for a law called PUL, which in stipulates that it's illegal for me to publish names and data about persons without first getting their consent. This law was also heavily critisized for it's stupidity, but still passed with a few modifications. It's not enforced that much. At the same time, I read letter to the editor in a paper, written by among others the head of SUNET, claiming that Sweden is fast losing it's lead in IT. The reason is the government is highly reluctant to fund the building of a fiber network, and no companies in the private sector can afford to build the needed nets. Most people in Sweden right now is on DSL 512 kbps, or modems.
Dunno, but I have this mental image of the SCO board all squeezing into Jackie Chiles' office. (He's the lawyer Kramer often hires in Seinfeld, for those short of memory)
Might it be The Cuckoo's Egg by Clifford Stoll?
I read it a very long time ago, and I can't remember if it included microwaved sneakers, but at least it's about a network admin chasing a hacker.

Speaking as a fvwm zealot:
What every other WM lacks that fvwm has is configurability, and plenty of it. Despite every existing screenshot of it, a properly configured fvwm sweeps enlightenment right off the field, while still keeping an astonishly low resource footprint. I have tried most of the WM:s popular with linux, and I keep coming back to challenge fvwm:s configuration files. Let's hope for another ten years!
I agree, and I keep my Model M for some time I think, although I must admit this looks kind of kewl. In a few years, if they start showing up n second hand shops, I'd probably buy one. The main problem for me is just the mouse, since typing never brings me any discomfort. However, when using the mouse I have started experiencing the beginning of a carpal tunnel, but I hve not found a functional replacement.
btw, when will we see those gloves from the Johnny Mnemonic movie in general use?

I have found that the OSS definition of beta usually means that it is as stable as 'stable' Windows apps. The stability labelled beta for proprietary apps is in OSS software called 'Only availible in CVS'
Yes and the older the drives are, the better. I equipped my firewall with a 80 MB drive (Think it was a Maxtor, btw). Previous to this it had been sitting in a public computer at a school, and lying in a cardboard box at a friends. After having used it to carry data around, I put it in the firewall, and it's now on 24/7, with no signs of problem.
I'm not too sure those using Netscape need that much nudging. If they're using a non IE browser, chances are they'll search for another non IE alternative if Netscape dies. If they have been using Netscape since 2.0, my bet is they won't be using IE in the future, and most certainly already know of Mozilla. I think Mozilla is getting to be relatively widely known nowadays, and whenever one of my friends whine about popups and other annoyances with IE, I tend to direct them to Mozilla.
In Mona Lisa Overdrive (if I remember correctly) there's a ship called 'Sweet Jane' travelling up to orbit, a song on the VU 'Loaded' album has this title. Also, that music trivia guy in Chia's Sandbender in 'Idoru' sounds a lot like David Bowie, doesn't he?
Probably comes down to what library is doing the decoding in the background, rather than the player utilizing it. The two most usual choices are probably libmpg123 and libMad, though Splay seems to use something called mpegsound, which I've never heard of. Of the two previously mentioned I've found libMad to give nicer sound.
Are you kidding me? Every web designer knows that using IE for previews will render a site useless. Netscape complies fairly closely to w3c standards, while IE uses a lot of it's own mysterious tags, and ignoring some code errors which should be recognized.
Too bad it's even harder to get screen dumps for the BSODs. A Windows screenshot gallery seem incomplete without them. Furthermore, those who have nothing against viewing Flash content might want to check out Windows really good edition for a laugh
I think they are. Most of the mp3s you download are 128K
while CD quality is closer to 192K. The sound quality is really better if you buy a CD in most cases.
What? CD quality (44.1kHz, 16bit integer) is 1.4Mb/s, and not 192k. 192 kb/s is lossy compressed, although on the verge of people no longer being able to tell the difference in an a/b comparison.
Like in Terminator2, where Robert Patrick was motion-captured, but the liquid metal texture makes the t1000's moves look far from human.

Alternatively, just ftp the whole shebang to ur hdd. (if you can manage without the source rpm:s it's a couple of gigs. Then run the live cd, and youll have the possibility to mount your directory containing your packages. This will keep you fromin blind rage throwing your computer out the window when the ftp link dies mid-install. (And it probably will, trust me)
DISCLAIMER:I tried this one or two minor versions ago, and it worked then. They may have changed sometheing now, to make it not work. Also, I don't remember if it was possible to make bootdisks for the old-fashioned of us./DISCLAIMER
