    It could just start one X session for the login then another one for a user, when you come back to login and someone else logs in, start a second X session, then switch with crtl-shift F8 or something...Would be nice to have that in the more user oriented distros !

    MusicBrainz works surprisingly well to identify music files. I don't know how it works exactly, but it surely isn't just a simple hash, because files I ripped myself were identified by MusicBrainz. Of course they could try something like that for movies...until everyone switches to a different network 2 days later.

    With my cheap linksys Prism2 card and the Wlan-ng (well that was a while ago, but I supposed the most recent versions are at least as good) I used to see a lot of bad packets in Kismet... What sucks is that there's no way any driver will report signal strength accurately...to do that maybe a radio scanner would be the best tool..

    Why don't they sue Apple ? Hell, iTunes is bundled with OS X! Because they'll bundle a music store with media player soon enough... and try to kill iTunes completely.

    Last time my Discman broke, they wanted to charge me over 100$ to replace the lil' spinny thingie inside of it because they'd replace the whole bottom part of it.. which includes the lens and pretty much all the electronics.. Laptops are the same, your best bet with a laptop is to take a good extended warranty and pray you don't need to use it..

    Why isn't it easier for people to open up ports on their cheap routers ? Tell someone to "Just forward your port 4893 to your computer" and they'll look at you like you're an alien, so why not include an application to do it that goes in their start menu (in addition to the web based interface) that would detect software trying to listen, and then asking if you want these to be open ? A bit like ZoneAlarm but controlling the router...

    I had an ibook with a failing backlight (it was a motherboard problem though, not a cable) . After inspecting it it seemed like the problem was in an inner layer of the board, so not really easy to solder. Applying pressure on the board did make it work properly, so a few inches of electric tape later and I got me a cheap ibook!

    Well I never said that PEOPLE weren't a big part of the problem. Some guy at work asked me if we have a "spyware firewall" because he gets spyware at home and not at work, and didn't believe when I told him it was probably because he didn't surf the same kind of stuff at home hehe..
