Uhoh.. I am in a infinite loop.. mass cloning of myself.. here I come..
Isn't this a huge research topic in itself. And I am confident that we will get better compiler optimizations as we go forward. This makes us come to next question about code complexity. I always believe simpler code would also help compiler to help optimize code better apart from user readability.
At this same time when we talk about compiler optimizations it is useful to understand the underlying hardware which has capacity to increase the Instruction level parellelism (ILP) and introduce its own optimization using pipelining.
People are arguing where am I going to get this much air or holding out arms would be dangerous.
But people seldom realise where it will be used. Consider the Indian Subcontinent where it is not that cold and people mostly have two wheelers. This generates sufficient wind so as to not to stick your arm to charge the phone.

"The primary objective of the device is to extend mobile 'connectivity' where there is no electricity."
As you might know if you are traveling and also true if you are at lot of places in villages where there is no electricity.
So before slandering the design or making jokes of it think of the geography it will probably make sense.

Yep, they did a search in their own search engine for "Miscrosoft Criticism" and found this website.
A scientist is conducting experiments on cockroach behavior. First day he cuts off one leg of a cockroaach and shouts walk. The cockroach is able to walk limpily. Second day he cuts off the second leg and shouts walk. The cockroach is still able to move around. Third day he cuts off his third leg and shouts walk. The cockroach tries hard to move and is able to do that. Fourth day he cuts off his last leg and shouts walk and obviously cockroach is unable to move. The conclusion: When you cut all the four legs of a cockroach the cockroad goes deaf!!!
The most annoying thing I get from management is non-geekiness. So yes, I would say if the people you are managing are geeks then be a geek with them. When I offer an engineering solution to a problem and get turned down because the "managerial" solution seems to suit the managers, it pisses me off. Kinda like the PHB and Dilbert.
Of course with management you have one level of higher management to report too and I think they would be happy as long as you have keep your productivity within the normal range.
When you try and raise all these kind of questions, I only ask one!! What is defined as a robot?
Webster defines it as
1 a : a machine that looks like a human being and performs various complex acts (as walking or talking) of a human being; also : a similar but fictional machine whose lack of capacity for human emotions is often emphasized b : an efficient insensitive person who functions automatically
2 : a device that automatically performs complicated often repetitive tasks
3 : a mechanism guided by automatic controls
So, my next question is what makes us not robot? Apart from only being mechanical, aren't we ourselves a complex machine?
If we do ever create one consciousness or AI one day that is self-aware, I guess it is definitely worth asking to treat that as a life-form. However in present case scenario if you really want rights for robots then every computer should be given one 'cos it has a processor which is supposedly its brain.
I keep on dreaming about the games during day and night and keep wondering I am one of the characters. Way too disturbing when you wake up from sleep and you are tired of all the dream gaming!!
I read on CNN science page that scientists normally look for big events like these (quakes measuring more than 9) in order to learn more about earthquakes. However it was extremely difficult to learn anything as most of the fault lines are deeply buried in ocean bed. Other theory is that these kind of pheneomenon was what resulted in formation of all the continents as we see today from a big land mass lump called Pangea which existed millions of years ago. Another theory is now that these continents are on move again getting closer to forming a big lump. Australia is on a collision course with Asia and North America with Europe. Africa is pushing up on Europse and reducing the Mediterranean region. Considering the technological knowledge this is really neat however considering human lives this is very very sad incident.
Two things:
1) Interest in a particular subject leading to research interests
2) Make your life better.
Those were the two intentions I came to US for. And I bet 90% of students do it for the same reasons. You are on target when you say that is a family pride in having a higher and better education. Families all around India encourage studying, schooling and getting higher degrees. This is why India is producing so many engineer, doctors and techies out there.
I as an EE am working as a software engineer in US , but I would do anything to get me back in EE. The pure reason I am doing my current job is huge loans I have accrued. I may even opt for Phd for the pure reason I love EE and may even pursue professorship if need be.
Hmm I can answer myself after RTFA... ugh.
"n a singular blend of artistry and utility, the digital sundial combines the ancient science of sundials and advances of modern technology with elegant simplicity. Like a digital clock, the digital sundial displays the current time using digits. In the true tradition of all sundials, the device is purely passive - it operates without electricity, and has no moving parts. Instead, the sunlight is cast through two cleverly designed masks in the shape of numbers that show the current time of day. The sundial is available in two versions, for use in either hemisphere. Placed on the inside of a south-facing window (north-facing in the southern hemisphere), the sundial can be read through the horizontal mirror. The display updates every 10 minutes, and gives a remarkably accurate record of the time during the daylight hours."
But if it updates every 10 minutes I wonder how useful that is.
Normally when we want to get something done from our systems division we create a help desk ticket and we have options to choose like if it is software or not. Now we have a special one called "spyware".
Spyware is indeed very big now. With ~90% intenet users still using IE and their ignorance in visting random sites can easily compromise their computers with spyware.

It's amazing how we criticise M$ for not being open and IBM for tring to be open.

Microsoft Windows is more secure than Linux
Huh? And the flu shot you take is not a virus eh?
I don't want a Robot spraying me with Ink!!! Or Did I miss the point of the story ;-)
Who does RTFA?
... Google fires the "mapping google" blogger... Oh wait he doesn't work for Google!! darn!!!

I must be misplaced datapoint. I am fat and I like to sleep whole day. yummm sleep!!!
Darn I hit the submit before the preview. I found this

Er... I think it probably still runs off of electricity produced by solar energy, right?
