I have a PS/2 manual here (the one that's a million pages long) and it shows networking in a grid layout, with different symbols showing connection, no connection, broken connection, transferring data, no computer there, etc... is this what they mean by grid layout?

If it just has to go up and come back down once, it's a lot cheaper than making sure the ship can go back up and back down many times. That's why the shuttles are overengineered flying bricks.
We must be lucky. Our iMacs had so many games installed that's all we did in that class. Nanosaur, Bugdom, Escape Velocity, that's all we ever did. Of course I obligatorily installed Escape Velocity on half the computers in the school, allowed or not...;)
Duke Nukem 3D has that on my CD. It has an encrypted version of the Plutonium Pak on the CD. Of course, I never needed it because in 1999 they were selling Death Rally and the Atomic Edition for $5 together, and it came with a nice Duke 3D mousepad which I still use today.
