Donovan admits that users self-adjust their habits to take advantage of off-peak times.
I'm in the habit these days to start torrents during my free time at the workplace (remotely). Bell is doing a lot of heavy throttling these days.
Taking into account that a memory card ($39.99 U.S./?34.99/£22.99) is required for saving games, a headset ($19.99 U.S./?19.99/£14.99) is necessary for Xbox Live play, a second controller sells for $39.99 (?34.99/£24.99), and a remote goes for $29.99 (?29.99/£19.99), totaling $130, the premium price appears the better deal. The above tally doesn't include a MS HD, which costs an additional $99 (totaling $229).
I don't mind having to recharge my wireless mouse if there was No Downtime. The Xbox 360 controller is able to recharge itself while in use by connecting it to a usb port. There's already a cable going through my docking station, might as well put it to good use!
It won't have tv recording capabilities.Although it is being rumored to send hd programming through the service - neither economical nor convenient (my bandwidth ain't big enough).
I haven't owned a console since the last sega genesis (have been a pc gamer since).
But, I won't want to miss out on the next generation of consoles (I have money now).
My reasons to want backwards compatibility are:
1.So I can play what I missed (I've seen others play) from the xbox 1 generation: Fable, Unreal Championship 2, Shenmue II , etc.
2.On launch, xbox games will be much cheaper and abundant than xbox 360 games.
How about a wireless controller which connects to an xbox cable which would seamlessly recharge the wireless pad's batteries while playing?
I'd like the same thing for my MX700 mouse. Man is it ever unnerving to have to stop playing because your batteries are about to fail...
The final Fantasy Online game on the PS2 required a HD.
I can imagine having one version of a game working on both machines. It'll just load faster using the hard drive on one and slower on the other. Besides, selling accessories has always been a present in console gaming.
I'm thinking that the cost of bandwidth more worriesome than the ressources it would use up on your pc. For some, the rate increases exponentially. Besides, I think that the amount of data sent is a more reliable way to measure your contribution than the cpu load.
The first one is not a miss, it's just used for calibration. The second will be create a 10 cm crater but its organic content will exterminate all life on this miserable rock.
Well, XP is pretty much a given for people who are willing to pirate it (there are many). Therefore, the additional DVD player actually will make the product worth more in the long run.
"Windows XP is only free if your time has no value".
Huh? Most software installations take me less time than to compile those damned linux apps. Sure, there's the occasional cleaning (spyware, virus checker and defrag) but I can plan these ahead of time when I don't need to be using the computer. When I put on software, I usually need it at the same moment. Don't tell me that there is such a thing as the perfect distro that has all the tools you'll ever need/want.
I remember reading somewhere that the Ecco game catridge had special electronic components to get the game to reasonable speed. Would you be able to overclock that part in there too?
Then, he just needs to either insert a floppy with his customization or either run the wizard again. The only standard command to remember is that wizard.
Why not come up with a command line wizard that displays a command, gives you information about its function and prompts you for the most personally intuitive replacement designation for that command. This is even more important for non-english speakers.
I noticed the following excerpt from DARPA's sleep deprivation article (http://www.darpa.mil/dso/thrust/biosci/cap.htm: shorten the duration of conflict I'm thinking that this eating deprivation may also shorten the need for battle. Rather than lasting 10 days, it would last 5. I think 5 days of excrutiating physical effort is better than 10 with risks of endangerement because of lunch breaks. I mean, the typical soldier won't have enough of these moments in his career to have a long lasting effect.

Who in his right mind would rave about computer controlled technology?

Maybe this is a bit similar to the MikreRoweSoft.com case. Rather than ending bad for him, he gets free publicity for his work and DeCss in general, if that's his motive...
Big and powerful ol' processors are usually used for rendering purposes (aspect in which intel leads) or 3D gaming.
A laptop isn't suitable for any of that because of the depletion of batteries. I don't think the processor features downclocking of cpu speed when batteries are in use (and full speed when connected to a power jack).
The most noticable factor which affects laptop performance is the hard drive. They should find something for that rather than the usual megahertz.
Who in their right mind would use their laptop as a server. The smaller pc components inside probably wear out a lot quicker than desktops. Keeping a laptop on for such extended periods of time would lower its life considerably.
I like the fact that AMD is pioneering (albeit in the market, not research) the cpu demand for pc's. This gives me a warm feeling, like the one I had when I bought my 1ghz athlon. Anyway, Go AMD!
This is all stuff which should be FREE. The addition of a usb drive is just a gimmick. Configuration files shouldn't require that much space. A floppy drive should suffice. What is the point of NVidia drivers if you can't add a half decent 3d game in the cd. You can't really swap cd's either because those Live distributions take absolute control of your cd drive. You can't remove the disc even if u wanted to. The pri
If they admitted that their "sue y'all" tactics are just a lame excuse for a dying marketing strategy; the police wouldn't have had to worry about arresting some 14 year old kid for doing something that they probably did too in their youth (tape recording).

Why can't submitters put mirrors up before before the actual slashdotting? Mirror sites can't do their job when the worse has alread happened!
If you thought random clipping was fun (thanks Beacher!), modern (well, since the Hitman series) physics offer unintentional humor galore!

How does this translate for consumers?
