In your cases it was humor that was above is cognitive ability, sometime people starts insulting because the original post have some political meaning or unpopular opinion (like saying that Microsoft is not 100% evil but just 99.9%).

But what really offence my is when people start to mod up the one who was using insults and then call troll the one who have the unpopular point of view even if he was acting much more civilized.

The fun thing in a discussion is to compare the different points of view and learn new stuff. If every body had the same opinion and knowledge there will be no point on posting except to write "me too".

What I hopping to see is lots of cheap old good obscure not mainstream movies. Those movies are hard to find in local video stores and expensive to buy. That situation sucks. I'll be the first one to buy lots of these. But if they sell over 5$ piece I'll probably go on eMule to look for some "substitute product", for education purpose of course.

Like for music, there is lots of material out there and each individual desire probably to own much more stuff than what is wallet can afford. In consequence even if they lower the prices, there revenue wont go down. The people who where spending 200$ each year on movie purchase will still spend it but will just get more. The people like me who weren't buying anything will maybe start to do so. I hope they will realize that they can make much more money on the volume than on the price of each movie.

To be honest I pretty much detest flaming and offer you my own apologises for the strong words I used in my answers.

I am also willing to admit that I understand your point of view about people abusing their first language and find your intentions reasonable but the Internet and Slashdot is a global community and a large percentage of the users use English as their second or third language so I guess maybe many of the bad grammar is done by people that simply try to do there best and not by lazy writers. (0n anoth3r h4nd I th1nk that th3 l1t3 wr1t1ng on3s d3s3rve to d13)

When I first started to participate in online communities in English, I was writing under each of my comments things like "please excuse the quality of my grammar, English is not my first language" but I then decided to stop doing that because it seams to be kind of repetitive and annoying and did not bring anything else to the discussion.

I basically learned and developed my English writing skills on the Internet so sadly, I am the reflect of the people that populate it... Nevertheless I try to use grammar and spelling checkers and I my goal is to continue to improve my mastering of THE undisputable global language.
