    Wow, I hope googlebot doesn't see the tags people assign to the stories. Each and every story from "Wider Appeal" and newer is tagged "gay". Not that I have a problem with that, but, well, getting links to /. while searching for my daily gay porn dose would be quite disturbing.

    Yeah I agree it's not SCOTUS' job to punish politicians for treason, but I can't agree that accountability should only come from elections. That would mean then the worst punishment a politician might get for violating the supreme law of the land is not being reelected, and as (not only) recent history showed, even this isn't doesn't happen most of the time.

    I noticed this story on digg earlier today, but I'll comment here instead.

    As much as I hate DRM, this whole comparison & conclusion is bullshit. They compare DRM'd WMA and AAC to MP3. From what I've noticed from using my underclocked pda, MP3 is much less processor intensive then (warezed, DRM-free) WMAs at the same bitrate. Even if you don't believe me (and I can't be bothered to look for sources), this is still a possibility they didn't address.

    No, what VMWare does is not emulation. For an example of how emulation works, have a look at Bochs.

    I know it's an ancient version, but I just tried it under VMWare in Safari 2.0 (412) and it only launches Quicktime. Well I guess that's bad enough.

    AAC might be part of the MPEG4 standard, but most portable players I know of don't support it. My Zen jukebox, friend's flash iRiver (and looks like other, newer iRivers), and most* others don't support AAC. It might become more common in the future, but for now I'd like to not be locked in to buying an pi^H^H** iPod.

    * Actually I don't remember a single player w/ AAC, but some /.ter might just dig one up.

    My Zen jukebox came with EU firmware, and yes, the output was noticeably limited so I could barely hear anything with my headphones. Flashed it to the US version, and now there's enough volume for a small room :)
