I think you're missing the point. It's not the DRM that degrades the quality of the music its the fact that it's 128kbps AAC of any kind. If I have a CD I can rip it at any compression that I'd like. Plus I have the original source so I can then rip it again at a different compression if I'd like or a lossless compression.
I personally rip all of my music at 192kbps and I can notice a difference sometimes on some songs.
Theres a big difference between a computer engineer and a software engineer. I got my degree in information science and technology (aka IT) while my friend got his in computer engineering. (There is rarely a school that offers a major in software engineering, but most CS and IT departments have a track for it.) With our degrees, I design and create sofware while he designs and creates computer chips and boards. I would consider myself a software engineer while he is a computer engineer.
Being a little selfish are we? Sure my downloads are slower, but downloading a 1G+ show isn't exactly quick anyway. I just hope the new visitors download some music while they're there. Maybe they'll find something new they like and expand their horizons a little. I remember finding a site when I was in high school called sugarmegs.org. I downloaded a Dead show from there and my musical tastes haven't been the same since.
You may be right, but the article says: "Some beers already have higher levels of these compounds than others. The lager and pilsner beers commonly sold in domestic U.S. brews have fairly low levels of these compounds, but some porter, stout and ale brews have much higher levels."
So you might want to go with the Extra Stout instead of the Draught.
I'm not sure if Buzz Beer would count. Buzz Beer was just beer and coffee mixed together, while Nestles concoction is actually a fermented coffee drink. I believe the difference in the process of creating the two would be signifigant enough to make it a very different beverage.
Personally, I'm glad people are still trying to combine my two favorite drinks. I've tried mixing coffee with beer, and its not bad, but not really good either. Maybe this will be an improvement.
I purposfully used the example 128kbps and 192kbps, because I can't tell the difference of anything above that. Thats why my mp3 collection is encoded at 192. And even most of the time 128kbps mp3s are fine, but at times on certain parts of songs, typically when things are in the high ranges (cymbals and such) I can tell.
Both of the examples you give, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference either.
Funny thing about hearing, everyone's is different, much like their sight.
My father used to work in an electronics store that sold Hi-Fi's back in the day. He told me that the best way to know which one you should buy is based on how well you can hear. You start with listening the cheeper models and work your way up to the more expensive ones. When you can no longer tell the difference, that's as good as your hearing is, so getting a better quality one would just be a waste of money. (This does, of course, assume that a more expensive system is of better quality.)
The same thing goes for lossey compression music files, some people can't tell the difference, between 128kbps and 192kbps and CD quality, but I know I sure as hell can. That doesn't make it bad that you can't, or that you don't care, but you can't deny that its not true.
How about we just don't let you walk down the street anymore.
Taking away a game producers freedom to make a video game (freedom of the press/speech) would be the equivilant of taking away your freedom to walk down that street.

FAQ: "If you still have a movie or game seven (7) days after the due date shown on your receipt, we will convert your rental to a sale. The movie or game will be sold to you at the selling price in effect at the time of rental, which is either the retail price, or, when available, at the previously-rented selling price, less the initial rental fee you paid."
I was assuming they ment something along the lines of Comcast On Demand type stuff. Which would seem like more of a threat then downloading a 9gig file.
Based on my limited knowledge of space travel. The only thing I could think of that would be effective would be a suicide mission. You load a space shuttle with nukes, launch the space shuttle, get a pilot to fly it the correct distance from the rock...the he (or she) pushes the button.
It might be worth it just to get your face on every news paper/website in the world as a hero.
Of course, if we can remotely fly these suckers then noone would need to go up there.
This is true. I left my wireless intentionally open in my apartment complex beacuse Comcast gives me way more bandwith then i typically use. If someone else wants to borrow some of it, they're welcome to.
I eventually enabled WEP because someone kept stealing the static IP that I had given to my windows box, thus booting it off the network.
Also, turning on WEP must not be too difficult for the average person, from my apartment I can locate 3 other networks, all of which have WEP enabled, and none going by the default router name.
I give him a fresh bowl of water every morning, and a fresh bowl when i come home from work. He just seems to enjoy licking the sink, shower, and my deck when it rains better then the water in his bowl.
S. paucimobilis, which can cause problems for immune-compromised patients or lead to blood stream or urinary tract infections, pneumonia and abscesses in the gut.
I've noticed that my cat often enters the shower (after i'm done) and licks the water droplets. Recently he came down with a pretty sevire urinary tract infection (UTI) which ended up costing me a couple hundered dollars for an emergency vet clinic stay. Now i'm wondering if the shower curtan was to blame.
I donno if I want bluetooth in my remote controls. My cat likes to lie on everything including my remotes. I put the remotes behind the arm of the sofa so that he doesn't change the channels, or turn up the volume to insanly high levels.
I agree about Booq. I have a Booq bag for my 12" powerbook and really love it. I only have the sleeve insert currently but its perfect for a minimalist like myself. It holds the powerbook itself and has one pocket with room for the AC Adapter. The thing is this sleeve attaches inside their backpack (i'm hoping to get it for Christmas, if not I'll but it with my own money). So normally you'd carry around the full bag, but if you have to run to a meeting or somthing you just grab the sleeve, throw it over your shoulder and you're off.

I keep a blog and there is nothing 2.0 (collaborative) about it.
Funny that link at the bottom of your blog looks collaborative: "Leave a comment".

Didn't Apple move to aluminum because the titanium interfered with WiFi reception?

yes leave the "grownup stuff" to the Anonymous Cowards.

They only allow you an "extra day or two".

I'll stick with NetFlix, Thank you.

Which versions of MacOS did this ship with?
I searched my PowerBook G4 but my assumption that it didn't ship with OS X seemed correct.
ICANN can give .* extensions and one day people are going to abandon that idea and start using AOL keywords type of scheme.
Yeah, its called Google

I live in the US. Does my 12 inch PowerBook count? or is that too big to be considered subnotebook?
My work machines are also named after cats. My linux box is Puma while my WinXP box is Tabby.

Well they'll only get me for one flight...As i move to Canada...
I got one for chirstmas too. The back of the iPod and the box both clearly say: 40GB.
