Just one more post... Anyone remember the old joke about how crappy your card would run if it was built my Microsoft (it's an actual joke, I heard it a while go, but I don't remember it). Someone care to enlighten us?
Yeah, you can get the same Sony stuff in Wal Mart for less than you would in the Sony store. Might not have as large a selection but you still save money.
The only good thing I can think about having a Sony store is that it's one of the few places you can still get Beta tapes, if you've got an old Beta machine lying around. Up until a few years ago, you could get a new Beta machine at the Sony store too...
I say, what the hell, Enterprise sucked so bad this last season, let's see what Shatner/Kirk can add to the show.
I remember when Enterprise started, I had thought it would be a nice change from the plodding, downright boring Voyager and the last few seasons of DS9. Finally, we were going to have a ship just fly around the galaxy, meeting aliens and interacting with them. Enterprise had so much promise, it was almost like a "back to basics" show: no complicated technologies, no Prime Directive to get in the way, no super-aliens starting a war or wanting to take over every civilization out there.
Then they went into that damn Xindi/war/humanity is the enemy thing, and I just lost interest. I couldn't wait for the Xindi storyline to be over so we could get back to the business of exploring the galaxy again, and they've dragged it into another season. And with Nazis! Geeze, when will they learn, we don't want to see Nazi's and aliens! Why don't they do like a cold-war story, where the Russians take over part of the world instead, that would at least be original... So Shatner/Kirk, whatever, let's just get it over with and move on to the next stupid idea.
I don't know why it isn't the right time to release a graphic adventure on the PC. Heck, I'm still pissed at Sierra for nixing the last Leisure Suit Larry game. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would look forward to it, but what can we do. I'm sure a Sam and Max sequel or a Larry sequel would do great if released but I'm not in Marketing, so what do I know...
Oh god, we were there on our honeymoon, and the only thing I missed from home was the coffee served here in Canada, because the French coffee is like mud. I tried to doctor it with as much sugar and milk as I could find and it still tasted terrible. Gives you one hell of a buzz when you drink it, but it's just nasty.
Best new game? True Crime: Streets of LA. That game is just so cool, like GTA except you're the cop, not the Bad Guy this.
Best game, even though it's a sequel: Medal of Honor Rising Sun. It's a nice change to have a WW 2 shooter not having Nazi's to blast away...
Best 2D puzzle game: Bookworm Deluxe from PopCap software. I got the demo in a gaming CD this summer, and have been playing it since. Although my wife has beaten my high score several times, it's a fun and addictive puzzle game.
It always amazed me that people would fall for this kind of thing, regardless of who does it. I think anyboyd dumb enough to get caught by these yo-yos should be spoken to as well.
How come I can picture Mr. Gates dressed like Steve Martin in "Bringing Down the House" when he goes into the hip-hop club to rescue Queen Latefah. Geeky, middle-aged white guy dressed up in street clothes, looking as clueless as ever..
"Windows yo, it's the dopest trip!" As poor Billy gets thrown out of the club.
The spin they are putting on it is that MS wants to cut off a source for pedophiles to lure children. They will terminate all "free, unsupervised chat rooms" in 30 days to introduce a "premium, paid service". MS is just wanting to make more cash, and the pedophile angle is just a feel-good spin some guy in a suit thought up to lessen the blow and help the public digest the new "premium" services.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for reducing access for pedophiles, but it's really just another ploy to get more money from unsuspecting Joe Newbie computer user...
I love that Soviet Canuckistan nick one of those Yankee know-it-alls used by the way on Fox tv this summer...
I'm glad to see that someone is at least trying to control spam. It's a start, and I'd like to see more governments, either state or federal, try the legislative approach.
Well sort of. We aren't hounded by the RIAA up here, and our government is more worried about the gay marriage situation right now to bother with copyright infringement. I'm still downloading stuff, RIAA can sue me if they want, I'm a Canuck so it don't apply up here.
That tax was just added to give more money to the artists, but I wouldn't be surprised if it just goes into the big old pot of cash to be used for whatever by the government anyway...
So if I read the last line of the article correctly, they'll stop shipping stand-alone versions of IE, and put the mail client in the main OS instead? Wasn't it that "bundling" that got them in the whole mess of trouble with the judge in the first place?
Why doesn't Billy learn. When I buy an Operating System, I want an Operating System. When I buy a Mail Client, I want a Mail Client. Not part of one included in the other... It just frustrates me to no end that they keep doing this and expect us to roll over and not notice/not care.
Only problem I have with that stupid Windows key (besides never using it) is that when I used to play Duke 3d, you'd hit it instead of Alt (the fire button)and it would load up the Start Menu. It would completely ruin the experience... Sorry Mr. Alien, I have to type a Word letter, just a moment please:)
I actually didn't mind the guy that played indy in his teens/twenties in the "Young Indiana Jones" Chronicles. His name escapes me, Sean something I think. He could pull Indy off quite well actually.
But please no Jar Jar! Bring Sallah back, he's classic.
I wish Sierra would get it's head out of the sand and make more of these wonderful games. I used to love Leisure Suit Larry as well as Space Quest, but I guess they've shut down the funny game department.
Chances are slim to none that they'll make another game from either of these franchises. See allowe.com for details on Larry's demise. Polyester never looked so good...
From what I remember, you pass an electric current through water. Stick your two electrodes in water, on positive, the other negative. Voila, Oxygen (o2) on one end, Hydrogen (h2)on the other end.
Water's the easiest source from which to get hydrogen, it's abundant and there's not all this other stuff mixed in with it (just plain old H2 and O2). I suppose you can get it from methane (CH4), or any other organic compound. I remember reading an article a while ago saying how they would use gasoline to power hydrogen cars, they'd seperate the hydrogen from other molecules in the gasoline.

Legal to download, sharing isn't a violation. I love this country! See ya all on Kazaa...

No but see, all your base are belong to them, for 6 bucks each...

Yeah, with our 2 boat naby and our forest green camo. Great for hiding in the snow or in the desert...

Try wikipedia.org, it's the Free Encyclopedia on the net. They have a slashdot section where they explain all this stuff.
Yeah, I could install Linux but then I'd have nothing to complain about. I like to complain.

Yeah, and then we can steal the Bibles from hotel rooms!
Now that would be cool. See, they're going about it all wrong. Sex sells, hence sex = anti piracy!
Tell him to use the Anonymizer, www.anonymizer.com. I used it here in Canada to load sho.com, no problems, it's a little slow but it works.

Yeah, H2O is a real killer. Right up there with air and light... Good to know my 3 years of college in a Chemical Technology program came in useful!
