I remember the 3D0 and the CD-i being touted as all in one devices, and they failed miserably. Panasonic and Phillips seem to forgot that it is - and I hate to point out the obvious - all about the games. Being able to play movies, or record TV shows should just be a bonus, not the focus of a console.
Plus, I would rather have devices that performed one function, and did them well, than one device that could do several things rather poorly. The PS2 is a great game playing machine, but makes a lousy DVD player.
a place near me (like 3 blocks actually) that specializes in 'No Touch' laser surgery for the eyes. I know three people who have gone to that clinic, and were extremely happy with the results.
I'm not that bad (-1.5) but I can't stand wearing glasses, and when my optometrist gives me the OK, I'm getting it done.
Damn, I hate that. It just seems so... derogatory.
A couple times I've seen a mother with a kid on a leash, and I've asked her if the kid knows any tricks. Every time I got a dirty look. I guess some people don't like to be reminded of their bad parenting habits.
Well, to be fair, the Galaxy's did kick ass in the later seasons of DS9. Watching those two Galaxy's swoop up and take out the Cardassian ships from a scene from "Sacrifice of Angels" nearly brought a tear to my, as it was the first time we got to see what those beautiful ships were truly capable of.
Also has a GPRS network for use with a Novatel Wireless Merlin card. Not quite sure of the speed, but I'd imagine being able to access the net from anywhere would come in handy. Price for the card, and monthly package, is a little steep, though. Plus, like other posters have mentioned wifi access is pretty ubiquitous.
OT:
Anyone else notice the ads for the "ROKU network music player" Quite a nifty looking device, and if I were looking for a network music player, I'd look into it. But you'd have to pry my audiotron from my cold dead hands.
As a born and bred proud Canadian, I've always kind of thought of the USA as a sort of big brother. They like to bully and push their weight around, and sometimes they can be annoying, but they'll always be there for us if we need them.
I think if you set the clock a couple years in the future, load up Quicktime, dismiss the update popup, and then reset the clock back to normal, the popup won't happen again.
but they are third party and would probably void the warranty. I like smokey transparent for gadgets for some reason, and I was able to get both a smokey transparent case for my Playstation 1, and for my Dreamcast.
It's Five GB down, One GB up according to this page.
It's not really actively enforced. I've downloaded 10 gigs, uploaded 5 gigs in one month, and was not contacted. I suspect it there's for the heaviest abusers, the ones saturating their line 24/7 with FTP servers.
I first researched both the SliMP3 and the Audiotron a while back when I was looking into network audio players.
I liked the display on the SliMP3, however it did not have an Optical output, and it could only play MP3's.
The Audiotron, on the other hand, could play uncompressed WAV's, WMA, and streaming radio. It has optical output, a decent set of controls, and would look good against my other black components.
In the end, I chose the Audiotron. It was a bit pricier, but that extra price was justified by the extra features.
From Next Generation game magazine, December 99, (the first I ever read about it):
By far the most exciting prospect is of multiplayer battles between console and PC players. While Bungie kept tight-lipped about the prospect of a Playstion2 version, Sony insiders have mangaged to confirm that the title will indeed be one of the earlier releases on the its supersystem after it debuts in the fall of 2000.
Agreed. We've been able to get a few full 8 on 8 games going in our lab, and nothing beats the fun of a co-ordinated attack of two full Warthogs, a Scorpion tank and air support provided by a Banshee, going against the like, in that big snow level.
Joe Consumer might ask one of his techie friends if there's a way to get their pictures off the camera without taking it back to the store, seeing that it's just a regular digital camera.

I hear they have a pill for that now.

I would think though, that if you're smart enough to change your MAC address, you'd be smart enough to make sure that your computer is safe.

Telus Basic residential DSL. 150K down, 50K up. $34.95 Canadian per month. (Plus basic phone line, $22 Cdn per month)

My Favourite Internet Explorer error so far:
With my Lab machine at school, trying to load a page with a Java Applet - "JRE not found. Would you like to download it from some Microsoft site"
Yes
At that Microsoft site:
The JRE failed to download for the following reason(s)
- You do not have the JRE installed.
So you too can now look like Lobot
The first one of my friends that say they "Ipod'ed" someone gets a swift kick in the nuts.

According to IMDB, it was the The Rescuers Down Under, made in 1990.
Heh. It's the name of one of my cats.
