From the blurb: From the article: "The third nation to launch a man into space has lofty space ambitions that include putting two astronauts into orbit this September and eventually sending up a space station and even a manned mission to the moon."
I'm pretty sure you mean taikonaut (unless the Chinese are really sending Americans into space...)
This raises a question I've had for a long time - what's stopping 3rd party manufacturer's from selling an Xbox controller with the d-pad and left analog locations swapped? (Or is such a controller available?)
Seems like this kind of game is right up GameCube's alley. Is Sony the publisher/developer?
Of course, I only have an Xbox, so I guess I'll never get to play it...
Inferior bootlegs are fine for inferior movies...

Sure, they're inferior, pirated copies, but for most people that seems to be good enough.
If Hollywood were capable of making films that were good enough to merit the trouble of going to a theater and paying the premium price to see it, then people wouldn't be satisfied with crappy camcorder internet bootlegs.
I can only imagine that the people soiling their pants over the Halo franchise are too young to have played GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64. That was the closest the console industry has come to a worthwhile FPS. Then again, that's probably because it was designed for a console from the beginning, whereas Halo was developed with an actual FPS interface in mind (keyboard, mouse) before Bill Gates waved a big bag of money in front of Alex Seropian and Jason Jones...
I know that the bit is the atomic unit of measure when it comes to data storage and transmission, but sometimes I really wish everyone would stick to bytes.
When I see 1 Gb I have to think for a second to get to 128 MB.
Though I don't believe it's "Goodbye FireFox", you cannot honestly say to me that IE7 doesn't have the potential to disrupt FF's market share.
It does, not because it will actually be the better product - only because it might be un-sucky enough for the very lazy Dell/HP/eMachines crowd to not feel motivated to try something else...
Even if Apple does get Java 1.5 (it's not 5, you damn marketroids!) available for 10.4, that still means if you develop end-users apps for the general public and you want to use the cleaner syntax that 1.5 makes available, your Mac users will be required to upgrade their OS.
Is there a non-Sun/Apple JVM that works under OS X?
I think there are probably enough sighted people to handle the job of reporting google-cheaters. Of course, I guess that would result in a disproportionate amount of junk results for searches relating to resources for the blind...
So use one of those things that tells you to type in the word in the box below, and it's all distorted with noise added to defeat character recognition algorithms.

So does this mean the Linux conversion has gone well in Munich?
But the other "bad news" that is linked is GOOD for SCO. (Novels motion for dismissal in SCO's slander suit against them is denied.)
If you want your words to be read, please at least try to organize them into paragraphs.
Vote, there's your checks and balances.
We tried that, it didn't work.

No shit.
Amazing that this gets explained but crap like AJAX floats by in aubmitted blurbs without so much as a Wikipedia or AcronymFinder link.
Yeah, well, I don't think contraband peddlers report to the government who is and is not paying in cash...
From the directors who brought you A.I. and The Phantom Menace...
But IANAG (I am not a Grammarist)
Grammar has nothing to do with the origin or pronunciation of words.
I'll just bet you have an 8 x 10 of Ayn Rand covered with your man jam.

If there is no higher power than the physical laws of the universe, then guns are just as "natural" and uninvented as sex.
By this reasoning the concept of "invented" is meaningless and free will is an illusion.
Not that I necessarily disagree with that sentiment...
You're right... instead of

grandparent SHOULD have written
"first relevant language"

Jeez, there haven't been two Zelda games on the same Nintendo console since the NES.
(Majora's Mask doesn't count.)

As noted in other comments, the longevity of new media forms has actually been decreasing with each new technology.
But we won't need our media to last any longer than it takes The Singularity to arrive.
Great comment! (What are you doing on Slashdot?!?)

Uhm... what?
