Prediction #22: Store Purchases by Tube. Pneumatic tubes, instead of store wagons, will deliver packages and bundles. These tubes will collect, deliver and transport mail over certain distances, perhaps for hundreds of miles. They will at first connect with the private houses of the wealthy; then with all homes. Great business establishments will extend them to stations, similar to our branch post-offices of today, whence fast automobile vehicles will distribute purchases from house to house.
thanks for the link.
i'd get a google account first. it has email, chat, voip, calender, word processor, spreadsheet, etc. then get a nokia 770 to access it. wireless access is pretty easy. there are alot of free access points called "Linksys".
good luck.
I went to a parent-teacher conference recently. my 6 year old was identified as a TAG (talented and gifted). the teacher coordinator was very helpful with many useful hints for his development, but i cringed at one suggestion. she wanted him to "Powerpoint" so he could be confortable giving talks to his peers. i would like him to excel in many things, but "Powerpointing" isn't one of them. besides, we only run linux in this household;) i look forward to suggestions in this topic about programing for kids. with a linux box
sort of off topic, but nintendo Brain Age is alot of fun for the both of us. how can i make programing just as fun? i also need to have him touch type so he won't end up like his grandfather (hunt and peck).
i know i run in to this occasionally. i speak conversational Japanese, but i grew up primarily in the US, and have my medical degree in the US. i can talk about the weather without a problem, but if i try to describe anatomy or a medical condition, i'm stuck. actually, part of my job as a physician for regular english speakers is to translate Medical terms to everyday english. i find that that can clear up alot of anxiety for everyone.
a medical translater must not only translate the exact word, but must sometimes simplify the words so that the average person will understand them.
you are correct. "Bones" from New Voyages is a friend of mine, and he has told me that everyone involved has donated their time, expertise and money to this project. it's a real labor of love for them. paramount gains free publicity for a dormant franchise.
asimov in "foundation and empire" had a force field lens of some sort i think. darn, all of my scifi books are at my parents house!
i agree. i try to get my 7 and 3 year old boys to pee on the weeds in the lawn, but my wife yells at me when it happens.

i realize the parent is mod'ed funny, but it should be modded insightful instead
i tried to moderate your comment interesting, and it came out overrated. coincidence? anyway, i'll unmoderate my self here with this comment.

You know, the amazing thing is that ebay has it for sale. i'm not sure if it's the astronomical or geological pluton though.
i hope they have a nursing home edition and an alzheimers edition when i reach AARP time.
it's sort of like an online "Rashomon". there's some fun in trying to reconstruct a story based on the /. comments.
childs play would be a great idea this holiday!

i thought Hello Kitty was the first brand that was into everything. everything from erasers to vibrators.
apt-get assimilate
(resistance is futile)
hmm. i'm waiting for "Monster Cable" brand methanol. lasts 2 hours more than the generic methanol! there's gonna be some interesting marketing.
i think they have already won with the DS. that is an amazing platform by any means. Fun to play, cheap. Nintendo is on to something here.

now which company will be the Head?
i think the 5 second rule would apply, so it would be safe to eat.
You could move to Hawaii. i think the Hawaiian Coke uses local cane sugar. there is a taste difference.
i have to agree. there's alot of bear poop in the woods today
