How would running WoW under Cedega look like Glider or any other botting software? Maybe it's just Warden working funky, but something just seems very off here. It doesn't surprise me, Blizzard acting first and thinking later. If it's any consolation to those banned, you'll probably get your accounts back in a couple weeks...
Might help to make a big stink about it in the meantime though.
First off, I'm not criticizing only AMD or Intel, I think they're both guilty of concentrating on perceived performance on desktop CPUs. They don't care how much power the chip consumes or how much heat it dissipates, they only care about what the average consumer sees as immediate performance. To me, performance can be multiple things and considering that you could fry an egg on my P4 no matter how big the heat sink is... I don't think I'm going to get many years of use out of it. So heat & power consumption are steadily growing concerns of mine. I had an Athlon XP 2800 break after one year of use--last time I use the heat sink that comes with the processor!
True, but I know at least with the Core 2 Duo Intel not only focused on improved performance, but also lower power consumption and heat generation. I was starting to get scared of Intel chips until that point, wondering if purchasing one might be akin to laying a lump of thermite on my floor, but they made a step in the right direction. I hope that they keep moving forward with cooler, less power-hungry chips.
No, they're paying $600 to play the newest next generation games. As a very nice bonus, it would hopefully play their old library of PS1 and PS2 titles. I like being able to just replace a piece of hardware in the entertainment cabinet, instead of having to add another.
It's funny how backwards compatibility used to be such a bonus feature, now it's practically expected.
Is anyone surprised that a certain retailer is short of PS3s? I thought that all retailers would be short, given the lines of people waiting for them.
While a $20 used game or movie isn't much, I guess it's better than nothing, and more than one would normally get when they place a preorder and don't get their system on the first delivery...
I was thinking the same! At first I thought, "Well, all controllers are throwable... at least once."
As far back as Super Mario Bros' insanely hard world 8, to modern day Ninja Gaiden on Xbox and Devil May Cry 3 on PS2, I know I've been throwing more than my share of controllers.
Maybe I'm old-school or a fogie, but I don't understand spending such huge amounts of real world money for a purely virtual good. This is even worse than the gold-buying that goes on, as the trinkets and mounts and tabards(oh my!) don't even serve a purpose.
But I guess the prices on eBay show that people really are spending this much...
Delaying the BC expansion isn't completely a bad thing. This will
give Blizzard more time to give us a polished, complete product.
Hopefully servers won't crash on the first day!
Also, is anyone that surprised by this? Blizzard has made it a practice to delay their titles, and usually it's worth the wait. I think though many may be disappointed, it'll work out in the end.
I also think it shows that Blizzard has quite some brass, giving up the opportunity of hitting the Holiday market... though I guess they don't really need it.
Agreed totally. I manage to juggle a full-time job, 2 entrepreneurial interests, a girlfriend, and still manage to play World of Warcraft. I'm not addicted, and WoW certainly isn't ruining my life. In fact, my liver is probably thanking me, since WoW has replaced some of my bar runs with friends.
Is the reason that some people don't get addicted to WoW because they're just too busy with other things? I can't imagine playing 10 hours per day, doesn't it get boring after too long?
I find it amusing that if people point fingers at video games making people violent, the reaction is usually along the lines of "It's not the video games fault, where were the parents? I play video games and *I'm* not violent..."
Yet when it comes to World of Warcraft, some of these same people start whining about WoW being addictive and ruining their lives. They place all kinds of blame on the software itself, and none of the blame where it belongs... in their own hands. To those who are 'addicted' to WoW: Step outside, enjoy some life away from the computer, and realize that it's not the game's fault you just wasted months and months of your life.
The game didn't force you to play, didn't hold a gun to your head in the late hours of the night. Any problem related to you playing too much WoW is your own fault. Just learn to step away, and enjoy the game more casually. Play 3 nights a week, maybe an hour or two a night. Make sure to still go out with your friends, still exercise, still LIVE.
I would think you could set up a filter of some sort, or require more human intervention while syncing...
But would it really matter if it was constantly updated? If you have a good starting base of information, I think it would suffice. If anything came into question, you'd be able to check it later when you reach an internet connection.
Actually Adderall and Ritalin are quite different, and neither is quite like methamphetamine. Adderall is a brand name for a blend of levo- and dextro-amphetamines, and Ritalin is methylphenidate. I've been on both medications, and they don't feel or work the same. Methylphenidate increases the brain's level of free dopamine by shutting down the excess dopamine receptors found in the brain. Amphetamines work by stimulating the release of dopamine. Similar, but different.
I haven't taken methamphetamines myself, but a friend of mine was on Desoxyn, which is prescription meth. He claims that it was also similar to Adderall, but again, different. Stronger, for one, and it gave him more mental clarity than the Adderall.
Ah, but it can get lower. If you are sending out large amounts of mail, i.e. bulk mail, you can get much cheaper rates through the USPS. Plus, and I'm not sure if you're an online DVD renter, they are just sending a little flat envelope.
I'm all for competition, but I think Amazon will have to have a special gimmick of some sort to enter into the US market with any success.
And for all Netflix users out there, my Queue Manager program is now officially free, and officially version 1. Now that it's out of beta, come give it a spin!
I for one am very glad that this whole debacle is over. I think it's somewhat ridiculous that people are angry at Rockstar. AFAIK, GTA:SA is rated M for violence and sexual content. Why must it be AO now? This certainly wasn't hardcore porno, it was not even as bad as what you see on cable late at night.
And to think that GameStop is not going to sell the game anymore? Regardless, it's well out of the spotlight now, but the game they stop selling today is the game that they were hyping the hell out of for pre-orders 1 year ago. I don't care what the ESRB rating is, nothing has changed.
I certainly don't think kids should buy this game, regardless of the sex, they shouldn't be exposed to that kind of violent content. However, it's now a pain in the ass for me if I want to buy a copy. It seems I can no longer go into my local videogame store and pick it up, I'll have to order it online and wait. I wonder if it will arrive in a plain brown envelope. Wouldn't want the neighbors or mailman to know I'm getting such perverted things in the mail.
[even if they work retail they're still human].
Obviously you haven't been to the video store by my house... But, you see, what if you really have a sudden desire to watch Caddyshack at 4 AM, Tuesday morning? I actually like using Netflix, just because all my local video stores aren't good at keeping their discs either in stock/in one piece.
And on that note, shameless plug, my queue manager program for Netflix is now FREE as in beer, no more obnoxious registration or time limited trial. New version just out today, give it a try! http://www.5hyphen.com/FlixQueue/index.htm
Amazon wouldn't do too badly, compared to other companies, but it's a tough market to enter... Wal-Mart, the corporate giant, didn't succeed.
Of course, Amazon already has a distribution network... More competition wouldn't hurt, and I'm sure that Amazon would do a better job of it than Blockbuster Online.
On a side note, any Netflix users out there who are tired of fighting to get your queue in order, try out my Netflix Queue Manager program, FlixQueue, at http://www.5hyphen.com/FlixQueue. It will save you time, and has many neat features that you simply can't do on the Netflix site.
I write very similar things into my code. My coworker and mentor yells at me about it. I think they're great little bits of levity when your code gets you down.
Well, there's been news for the last few days that an exploit for the 1.5 firmware was coming out today... no details on how. Now we know the how, so I'm not as excited.
I understand that a lot of hacks require a trick, a dab of solder, or some other hackaround. I just really hate swaptricks ever since the PS1 days. Timing it was a pain back then, and I hear it's even trickier now. I have fat fingers and MS Pro Duos are tiny.
I agree, though, about devices that only run approved code. That's why I prefer to 'hack' my devices. Even though I really don't pirate much, I like having the option to run homebrew or out of region games.
I was really excited about this, until I read that it's a swaploit... some people are having it work no problem, but some people are having troubles getting it to load, having corrupted data on their mem sticks, etc.
However I have to take my hat off for the guys that worked this out. Let's hope everyone in the PSP hacking scene keeps up the good work, because I'd love to play some old classics on my PSP.
Also cheers to the poster for putting mirrors in the post.:)
I must say, M.C. Hampster, you're one up on most of us then.:) Or something like, Are you new here?
I guess I inferred your defense of it because of how your reply sounded to me. Forgive me, I've been under attack from my IRL friends about Nintendo, I must be projecting them onto everyone.
You should go check out some reviews and/or movies though, it does look really really good, and will probably sell lots of DS systems.
Yes, I have never played this game. Yet the author of TFA comes out and almost nominates this game for sainthood. While Nintendogs has many added mini-games and gameplay techniques that weren't present in some earlier 'pet' games, it seems to me that it is, at it's heart, a game much like the ones I referenced before.
So do you feel that you can pass judgement on the game? Have you played it? You have risen rather quickly to it's defense. I never said it was bad, but I have read too many articles in the past few weeks that claim this title redefines not only video games, but religion and most of the laws of physics.
I think we can all relate to the over-promise and under-delivery of the video game market these days... maybe I'm just being too cynical.
I think Nintendogs looks awesome, and I'll be in line to buy it when it hits the US shores, but it's not original. It's not a new idea. Nintendo is not really innovating.
Not anymore it doesn't... I still have to say I'm very impressed with what they've done. It's not something I could do. I think it goes to show how much really goes into any chip these days, how complex they really are.

I can kind of understand charging people tax if they sell accounts, currency, or goods, but where does it stop?
Do they start taxing you for you new epic sword, or your new tier 3 chestpiece?
How do you estimate the value of something that doesn't actually exist?

Well, I don't go as far as to use profanity in my code, but I will insult myself and my code... for example:
' This code obviously written by monkeys at keyboards. It sucks, it's slow, fix it.
' I wrote this sub in this way because I hate myself. I like build errors, memory leaks, and random crashes.
I write very similar things into my code. My coworker and mentor yells at me about it. I think they're great little bits of levity when your code gets you down.
No pirate applications? Darn, I was really hoping...
Forgive the horrible humor.
