Yeah. The materia system was actually my favorite magic system the series ever used.
That's the SYSTEM I like, not the parts of the game surrounding the system. Like having to breed a gold chocobo to get to the little island to get, far and away, the best summon in the game. Which I never actually did.
I like that it presented such a huge number of options, and it really made you think sometimes about what equipment you wanted to use. Better stats, or more materia slots? Or more linked slots? Or higher growth rate?
On the downside, though, it was kinda a shame to have the characters THAT versatile and flexible. They could largely switch roles at the drop of a hat.
All that said...Chrono Trigger's battle system is the Best. Evar.
I'll second that. The Myst books are fantastic. They make so much of the mysterious stuff from the games make more sense! Not exactly deep material, but that's never kept me from enjoying a good book!
WTF is wrong with you Americans? Stop treating your 1) Constitution 2) Founding Fathers as gods. They are man-made, erodable, and not so superior to everything and everyone else if you just care to take a look.
This is true. Honestly, America was pretty lucky to have good people around when it needed them -- but the stuff they put down wasn't perfect, and they knew it far better than anybody seems to today.
They themselves were revolutionaries! Overthrowing and recreating governments was their thing! As Jefferson would say, as soon as a government stops serving it's people, it's time for a revolution.
Now I'm not advocating revolution, here. That's all Jefferson.
Well, the expansion may be almost ready to show, but what I've seen in interviews SEEMS to indicate that it won't be ready to release for another year or so. I really can't say that two years is too short a time without an expansion.
Of course, I really want new content, so if the expansion were to release in a few months, that would make me happy.
I think Nintendo sealed their own fate by refusing to switch to the CD format back in the late 90's. If the N64 would have been CD based like the original Playstation was (hell even the Saturn had one), they would have kept more developers around and might still have a position of dominance. AFAIK they're in third place, behind Microsoft for god's sake! 15 years ago this was unimaginable.
Yet, according to all the numbers I've been able to find, Nintendo is still making more profit than any competing divisions.
While I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment, lots of people care. I know a good number of people that refused to even touch Wind Waker because they would never play a cartoon.
The button is offset, but a click in the very corner will move the mouse pointer a few pixels so it IS over the button, and the Start menu will pop up. I just did it. Like five times. I don't like it to move my pointer for me at all, ever, but it does work.
Um, for three of your four points -- ease of updates, frequency of updates, and communication -- the simple updaters that come with lots of other games (Neverwinter Nights comes to mind) work just as well, if not better.
At the end of this game, they're going to reveal that Zelda's really just a disguised hedgehog. Then he'll go on to battle Sonic in later games, at least until they both band together to defeat Master Chief and Crash Bandicoot in a cart race.
I'd have to say that it's only a misapplication if they actually attempt to apply it. A filed patent is pretty much meaningless. You're probably violating several hundred right now.
When you have to list ratings for how well a game works, that's the surest sign that it's not good enough. It's just further proof that Linux is simply inferior for gaming.

I never played the games back when they were new, so I have no nostalgia.
And FFVI is better.

Who the hell modded that interesting?

Yet, also, upset, for the reason you mentioned.
Mmm. Such a dilemma.

Idiots.

Here's the problem. Not all people approach video games in what I would consider the right way.
I say you come in with the intention of enjoying yourself. That's the best way!
Some people come in looking to criticize or complain. Or to prove their masculinity and coolness.
Yes. Coolness. And masculinity. Playing video games.
It's all very silly.

Link.
Well, for one thing, they already got more players than they could handle. More sales probably would not have been a good thing.
For another, remember how pissed Vivendi got about Steam? Guess who publishes Blizzard games.
What on earth does battle.Net have to do with your wallet, pray tell?
This action is not anticompetitive. If we were talking about WoW, I suppose it would be, but not for any other Blizzard game.
For it to be anticompetitive, there must be something that the bnetd people are competing with them for. There isn't.
When there's no money involved, it's really very hard to make an argument for competition. What Blizzard wants is control.
That made me cry a little.
It seems to me that building elsewhere would probably be significantly CHEAPER. Cleanup costs for this are going to be incredible.
Which is just a way of restating what I said.
I'd have to say that it's only a misapplication if they actually attempt to apply it. A filed patent is pretty much meaningless. You're probably violating several hundred right now.
As it is, it just seems silly to me.
Um, You're aware that for all intents and purposes, ED might as well actually be a N-branded game, right?

I'm finding that the (CW)TB posts are funnier than the strip lately. Perhaps they were always funnier and I just didn't notice until recently.
They've pretty much always been, yes.
Now, a finisher and/or a real snare would be nice
That's why we're getting a finisher in the next patch. And Hammer of Wrath is such a cool name. Plus, a talent overhaul in one or two more patches.
Yeah! Now the kid's going to run around slaying demons with fireballs and magical weapons. Damn the terrible influence of these games.
All joking aside, I still haven't laid hands on a joystick that I prefer to the MS Sidewinder.
