Isn't one of the goals of credit cards convenience? I mean, I could put all of my money in a pot, bury it where someone will never find it and pull from it when I needed and it would be pretty secure, but it's just too much work. This might be a good idea for the tin foil hat crew but I've got a feeling most of us will be sticking with our small, compact, easy to slide into wallet cards.
Out of those 60% how many are the type of person that fears any type of change, and only uses the internet to get an email from their son billy?
I'm guessing that most of these people wouldn't care about the difference it will make, because the time it takes to download one email with dial up, and the time it takes to download one email with broadband really isn't all that different.
I remember the first time I tried out Linux. My brother and I shared a computer at the time, and he wanted to play some Java games. I went to sun to grab the program and kept trying to open the file, which of course, didn't work. Finally I found instructions on Sun's site that served as a good starting point for the rest of my application openings on Linux but still, I almost had to reinstall windows just so he could play his games.
I'd have to disagree with you. I think that their new gmail service will place them on the tongues of even more people, probably more than Yahoo. Any company runs the risk of being a one hit wonder so to speak, but, I think so far Google has made the right decisions to avoid this, and I see no reason for them to fail now.
OC Remix is all well and good, but, I think the Modarchive should be mentioned as well. OC Remix just has remixes of songs we've heard over and over. Mod Archive builds a community based on the type of music video games created, and with almost 30,000 songs, I'm thinking everyone can find something they like.
I'm not sure I agree with you.
Somone new could well come along with an alternate business model that would easily upset the archaic retail system
Well... I just looked at the Divendo site you linked and I can't imagine a worse business model to go with.
To quote the site: How it works: Start by purchasing the songs you want. For each copy of a song that you then help distribute (for each copy that other Divendo users then buy from you), you get paid a share (1/6th) of the cost of the song. Distribute atleast six copies and you are reimbursed the full cost of the song. It's that simple. And you can always continue to relay copies in excess of the initial six to earn money over and above the cost of the song.
Surely, I'm not the only one who sees this as a pyramid scam? If you're one of the first people to discover a band, you might get your money back, but 95% of the transactions will be for full price, which will most likely be more than ITunes... I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Divendo will not be lasting.
Hooray for Puzzle Pirates =D good to know that they're getting the recognition they deserve. I've played my fair share of mass multiplayer games and for the most part, and they're all the same, except for this one =D just... needs to be less addictive =(
They more or less created it. One of the factors that goes into Googles ability to search are the words inbetween the link tags. Get enough people to link to sco with the word bastards as the description, and that word will pull up the site.
I agree with you, but I don't think Borland does anymore. There new BuilderX license requires people who buy the product to register at their website, and log in every 30 days to renew it. This review states the process, unfourtanetly I can't find a link to the actual license =(
Pish Posh, don't you know you can upgrade the kernel in WinXP without rebooting!?!?!? ITS LIKE MAGIC! Just takes special herbs =D

Any life we brought there would have to evolve incredibly quick. There's nothing on this planet even remotely similar to the climate there, so no reason for anything to evolve here to survive there.
I'm curious what the average size in comparison to each other is though... if each cell is on average 100 times larger than each bacteria then I don't think I mind all that much.
Oh please. Sure, the average slashdot reader probably wont be using a lot of baystar products, but does your average person with the ability to buy these products even know about all of this? Or even care? No. If this is true, Microsoft will have made it worth their while, and they're certainly not going to be losing all of their customers, or even a good portion

Well, that, and some of us don't want to see the other sides soldiers and citizens die as well.
Heh, thats something that wouldn't even survive SlashNot
If I had mod points, I would give them to you.

This isn't a questioning of your facts, I believe you, I'm just wondering if you're reffering to profit or revenue?
