I enjoy working my way through the lesson trees at https://www.khanacademy.org/. Most of the stuff is pretty simple but the multiple choice tests are enjoyable to me. And the Lesson Dashboard is shiny and sparkly.
My wife of 5-6yrs or so is definitely not a gamer, although I can get her to play some games.
She cant stand WoW or anything that requires above average time commitment, with kids and what not its hard enough to find time for myself let alone both parents to play.
Games she Loves on the Wii:
Raving Rabids Deweys Adventure Mushroom Men The Spore Wars MarioKart Meet the Robinsons
Games she loved on PS3:
God of War Series (watching, not playing)
Games she loves on PC:
Farmville
As you can see her taste in video games is severely stunted. Mostly reserved to poorly crafted movie renditions of adventure games. She seems to enjoy games that are 1 player, consist of running around and solving puzzles, require little strategy, and can be saved/stopped at any time.
That being said, I always enjoy finding a game she will play, even if it is 1 player, because she can play her game while i play mine and i don't get yelled at for spending too much time on my computer.
I looked at alienware when i was going to get a new computer last month and i didn't even see anything remotely worth the cost they were charging. after reading these comments im glad i didn't.
Build your own pc, thats what i did, contrary to what some people seem to think it is very easy. just follow this one simple rule:
1. RTFM: read the f*ck*ng manual
there now your fully educated on PC building and can save yourself a couple hundred bucks and get a good lesson on how hardware interacts in your machine. Plus as a bonus you can learn all the neat built in functions that your motherboard will no doubt have, and how to use all the software that will come with it.
so if suction cups, no matter the scale, work by decreasing the air pressure inside the cup to create a seal from the pressure outside the cup, how will they work in space? which to my knowledge has a lot less air pressure then earth?
People Choose go to jail all the time, here in Canada.
When charged with a minor criminal act, you are fined by the government, $5,10,25,000, whatever.
You can either pay the money, or go to jail instead. Duration based on the amount you owe. Lots of people do not have the money to pay the government, so they go to jail. They're allowed out to go to work, returning after for a nice hot meal and a warm bed. Use the gym facilities, watch a movie, read a book.
Prison on the other hand. Is shawshank redemption meets the midnight express. Not much fun.
It seems to me that NASA thinks people only have sex drives when there are mixed crews. Is one to assume that the lonely russian cosmonaught in the space station has no labido?
To solve this problem I would ask the astronaughts who have spent time in space how they dealt with sexual desire and apply it to a longer term. Im sure plenty of/.'ers are aware that you get horny even when your alone.
I believe that sexual congress between healthy people is going to happen no matter what documents and contracts are signed before a mission takes off.
Considering the fact that these people are supposed to be the best of the best, and are paid a lot of money, I would expect them to behave in a mature and reasonable fashion. These aren't high school kids being sent out on missions.
Also in regards to Sphealays comment about 1 way trips, It is a great idea but I don't believe they should be reserved for 60+ people entirely. Im sure plenty of people would volunteer for one way trips to outer space.
"I think that PlayStation 3 is a masterpience of design and technology - it packs a huge amount of performance into an amazingly small (and quiet) box."
The PS3 is ginormous! When I first saw it I was shocked and amazed at how huge it was. I didnt like the original Xbox because I thought it was overly large and I was disapointed with the design of the PS3. I was hoping they would try for first generation PS2 size or smaller. Size matters a lot and for expensive electronics I want sleek and small, not Huge.
I mean as technology gets better it doesnt have to get larger, RAM, Video Cards, and Hard Drives get better and better and remain relatively the same size if not smaller.
"Wouldn't you like to know if you're drinking milk from a cloned cow, or feeding your children pork chops from a somatic cell nuclear transfer event?"
No, I wouldn't thanks. I cant taste the onions in moms stew if you don't point it out, and I cant taste the genetic residue from molly the cloned sheep in my lamb chops if you don't point that out either so be quiet and let me eat in peace.
What exactly does a somatic cell nuclear transfer event taste like anyway? Chicken?
That list is more like the top 4, since 7 of the 10 are Fraud. I like how Auction Fraud is worse then Child Pornography. So voters think not getting there vintage t-shirt off of eBay is worse then kids being abused. Ya glad to see that the worlds priorities are in the right place.
Here in Canada, Eh, they are pushing nuclear power as a means of cleaner and safer power as opposed to coal.
Good thing its not going to be like Gasoline where prices just keep going Up and Up and Up.
"Well we thought it was a good idea before we realized it cost a lot of money, but by then we had already spent a lot of money so we just had to go on spending more money, but you know we can just charge the average consumer more and make it all back so its still good."
I am constantly quitting games before completion due the the extremely repetitive nature of the games. I mean come on, we aren't idiots. Just because you make the boars in the expansion pack have bigger spikes and change the color from yellow to red doesn't make them any different, they're still fucking boaring.
I would like a game that requires skill and has a humongous player base. Games I've found that do require skill (Like the Tekken series) have kept my interest for years and years whereas most new games cant keep me entertained for more then a few months.
What I find lacking is exactly what Shihar is talking about. Skill requirements. I want a game I can learn and get better at at all times, not from shear volume of hours played, but through refinement of techniques and mastering sequential moves.
Tekken 6 http://www.tekken-official.jp/tk6ac/index.html comes out this year so heres hoping they don't try to get on any bandwagons and stick with the stuff they've been doing since they started and then we can have at least one decent game in 2007.
"the Tory shadow chancellor has estimated that the UK could save ~600 million pounds"
I didn't know that the UK had a shadow council. Do they collaborate with the Axis Of Evil? or are they an entirely separate council? Where would you go to apply to groups like this? If your hired do you get cool uniforms with cloaks and stuff?
I'm a better driver after I play video games. I learned 90% of what I know about cars from Gran Turismo 3.
I can see the lines of a turn, can apply the use of braking and acceleration better, and I am better at avoiding other drivers and retaining awareness of my surroundings.
I think bad drivers should play more racing simulators and stop doing so many studies.
If you built the walls of the habitats with the magnetic coils then they would attract the dust and bury themselves, solving both the dust and the thermal regulation problems in one go.
Grouper claims that Searchles has "effectively stripped away Grouper's extensive copyright protection system, including the 'Flag as Inappropriate' button"
Awesome I can finally view all those Inappropriately Flagged videos. Hi Five!
'Cancer cells were successfully targeted with anti-matter subatomic particles, causing intense biological damage leading to cell death.'
AWESOME!! finally my anti matter death ray is being used for Good...Gliven!
I think its pretty cool that they are trying to create something like this considering a lot of the stuff that they have now (robotic border sentries and stuff like that).
It wouldn't be difficult to program racism into a robot, like serving a product at different price levels based on race/religion, and a charter like this would be a good step forward towards curbing a problem that hasn't even really become a problem yet.
Kudos to South Korea for taking some initiative!
120 TB of data from the Hubble telescope? I wish I was paid to go through that.
And this picture is of a...star
and this one is a star
And a star
another star
OMG its a FRICKIN STAR
This is so worth it, I know for a fact that this cloak gives you +12 Agility and +20 Charisma.
I personally would wear it to work and get all the babes.
Is leisure Suit Larry considered a roleplaying game since its the only time I ever get to be a suave ladies man.
That game rocked. Same as Space Quest series and Kings Quest series on the Tandy 500.

Nothing like insulting your readers to generate positive responses. I personally read every EULA I accept.

Douches.
They should have just got the Chinese to shoot the debris with their superawsomelaser and then no one would complain.
