I'm traveling to the states next week and I was planning to buy a DS along with Mario Kart and few more choices but now with this Lite version coming out in May I don't know what to do.
I have the money, I'm a Nintendo fanboy with a GC and a GBA with afterburner and I was looking forward to get the DS since launch day.
Should I get a "normal" DS next week? Consider that if i don't the only way to pick a Lite version when it comes out will be ordering online @ LikSang or buying it at local store, either way I believe we are talking about $250 for a core version (shippings, taxes all included) plus $70 for any game.
Size it's not a problem since I have large hands and i find the DS confortable enough.
I remember back in 1999 that Spielberg fully supported Circuit City's DIVX format alongside Disney Corporation®. Only after DIVX failure movies like Jurassic Park and other classics began to appear in DVD. So when people say that this encryption bug it's not Spielberg's fault maybe it's true, but rest assured that he is not currently satisfied about DVD-video DRM.
I bought my first DVD player back in 1998 and it was a Creative Labs DXR2 multi-zone with S-video out.
It was an awesome and affordable option back then, allowing me to be an early adopter of DVD tech.
In all this years I remember the folowwing "Format wars":
Circuit city's DIVX vs DVD
Remember that one? Disney and Universal fully backed DIVX, that it required you to log on using a dial up modem to watch the movie in a 48hs term, then the movie expired.
A lot of lazy joe's liked the format because it didn't required a ride back to the store to return the movie or pay late fees, but hardcore DVD fans hated it, and so it collapsed.
DD vs DTS
Back in the early days people actually discused which audio format was better, they posted comparisons and discussed which one will be the survivor in the format wars. Now (almost) every dvd player and HT supports both formats and still most people can't tell or won't care about the difference between them.
DVD-R VS DVD+R
More of the same, only 3 years away. the problem was solved offering dvd players that could read both formats.
Most people don't give a damn about it and they buy the cheapest DVD recordable bulk they see @ Wal-mart or Compusa.
Blu-Ray VS HD-DVD
It will be more of the same. Corporations like Samsung said that they will offer a player that will play both formats if there is enought demand, and most cheap chinesse manufacters like X-view/JWIN/Admiral/Apex/you name it will sure follow this path.
Don't bring me the "It's not posible to combine both techonogies because...", They said same thing about Divx/MPEG4 and now they are present in most decent players. Also DVD-AUDIO.
Granted, price may be high at first, but remember that dvd-players cost $1k back in the late ninety's.
Sony, on the other hand, will stick to "blu-ray" only players just like they do with Memory stick and other shit, so you will have a player that only plays half the HD content in the market, so will the PS3.
Conclusion: Wait one or two years, buy a dual format player and that's it.
Now I only need a Nintendo DS and Mario Kart DS. Too bad I'm poor and I live in a developing country, so I won't be able to get those until next year...:(
Grandparents shouldn't be buying games and/or tech related stuff for their grandchildrens in the first place. I usually got clothes from my grandma, maybe some book. I don't expect her entering a DVD shop and looking around and guessing if she has to buy a version of a DVD movie featuring Dolby Digital or DTS track (coming soon HD-DVD or Blu-ray), or which of the three Terminator 2 DVD versions is better.
Thomas Haden Church will play as Venom and Topher Grace as Carnage. Also James Franco will play a small role as the goblin at the beginning of the movie. There will be no Sandman in this movie.
Family guy got cancelled on tv, after that they released the episodes in DVD and sold at least one millon copies! The suits @ Fox got happy and resurrected the previous cancelled tv show that now it's on air. The same thing may apply to Futurama if we are lucky!
"Star Wars: Clone Wars" cartoons were better that episode 1 and 2 IMHO.

Sometimes TV series can be better that the movie they are based.
Take Stargate: SG1 for example.

Knoppix it's a great way for troubleshooting Windows pcs that won't boot. Any PC tech guy should have the latest release handy so it can save the day for those clients who keeps getting virus and then screwing Windows. But there is another release that you may find interesting: Whoppix
Whoppix is a stand alone penetration testing live cd based on Knoppix. With the latest tools and exploits, it is a must for every penetration tester and security auditor. Whoppix includes Several exploit archives, such as Securityfocus, Packetstorm, SecurityForest and Milw0rm, as well as a wide variety of updated security tools. The new custom kernel also allows for better WIFI support, for tools such as Aireplay.
The 2.7.1 minor release fixes several issues, such as support for Centrino wifi 2100 and 2200 drivers, missing Autoscan, and several new tools

Any news/rumour about Starcraft DS?
Warcraft or C&C would also be cool.
With more Women online, my chances of getting laid are now bigger! Nah, who I'm kidding.... :(

I feel the same way.
And for some reason I found the same for Animatrix and matrix sequels

Benedict: 180, you stupid, spaghetti-slurping cretin - *180*! If I did a 360, I'd go completely around and end up back where I started!
Tony Vivaldi: What?
Benedict: Trust me!

If that happens, I will be returning to IE!

Don't expect a decent ending anytime soon. Half-life 3 it's in the works and should be released in a few years.
