So does this mean someone can just place a sticker on the laptop (or computer) stating, "Do not steal this equipment or the sensitive data contiained within!" -- and then be protected from any liability?
Does this mean that I will only be entitled to one free PriceGrabber.com search per year now? Of course, I would imagine for a low $24.95 per month, I might be entitled to as many searches as I want, so long as my account remains paid. Or for $5.00 more, maybe I can even get the "Total Review" number, to see how many people have left positive or negative feedback of the various suppliers.
Ever watch the History channel, or PBS? They constantly run commercials to the effect of, "Do you like the program you are watching? Then buy it now on VHS or DVD for only $xx.95!"
Well, now that we've captured Bin Laden, resolved all of the problems from hurricanes Katrina and Rita, finally got out of Iraq and solved our crime and unemployment problems locally, I'm glad to see that our country is putting our over abundance of tax dollars to good use!
Great! Just what we need, another reason for even more spam. I guess if enlarging your p***s wasn't enough, now you can transplant someone's face as well.
Sorry, even if you can steal the identity of a US Senator, not much will happen. From a recent article, "Two people who tried to use a credit card number belonging to Cindy McCain, the wife of Sen. John McCain, were sentenced Wednesday to 2 1/2 years in prison for identity theft." Aside from 2.5 years in prison (probably less with parole), nothing else has really been done with this incident. Here's the actual
article
from the AZ Republic, if anyone's interested.
Hey, so does this mean I can try to patent currency and/or currency equivalents as payments for goods and/or services? This way, I can get a piece of the transaction every time someone else makes a transaction! I wonder why no one else has thought of this...
According to TFA, President Bush is very interested in stopping software, music, and movie piracy in China -- and is creating a new senior position to target global piracy and counterfeiting, which costs US companies billions.
At least for me, I am very interested in affordable health care, less pollution, better school systems, adequate road and highway infrastructure, and the ability to find a decent job that pays a decent wage. Too bad I don't have enough money to buy me some gov'ment! I guess the rest of these things will just have to take care of themselves somehow.
...I wonder what has changed from the 1960's-80's and today. Why is it today most companies don't want to offer health insurance or pensions, or make people pay into their own private funds. What has changed? Companies could afford it back then, but today they outsource work, they close factories, and they don't want to pay workers. But the CEO's get HUGE bonuses, it is nowhere in line with the bonuses they got 30 years ago.
You basically hit the nail on the head. You say, "I wonder what has changed...?" It's called CORPORATE GREED! Not only do CEO's get HUGE bonuses, they get HUGE salaries, HUGE incentive packages, and yet they still raid their companies, commite securites fraud, or whatever it takes to make just $100 million more this year.
So I guess at least eBay (hopefully) should be able to handle the Slashdotting! I mean, it would be pretty funny if we brought down eBay (even if it is just the UK portion).
From my experience, many users definately do care and it definately does affect them. Their PC's run much slower and constantly crash or disconnect their connection, etc. when they are infected with who knows what. The problem is that most users do not know what to do when this happens. If they run down to the nearest computer shop, they are usually told they need to upgrade to a newer, faster PC, and the problem happens all over again. Most shop owners would much rather sell a user a brand new comptuer system than just tell them they can download a couple of free Spyware and Anti-Virus blockers/remmoval tools. This, of course, brings us back to more "user training".
What about The Matrix? Didn't that movie either invent or at least bring to mainstream the "slow motion, multi-camera 360 degree rotational" special effects that are in so many movies (and some TV now) these days?
Of course, my favorite is when someone views tape of an "already recorded event" and then make it move as if they were controlling a "live feed" remote camera. I believe I saw a TV show recently where someone viewed tape of a traffic camera. They conveniently managed to move the camera angle (again, on the already recorded tape) to follow the car as it passed and then zoom in on the license plate and the driver's face -- from different angles! I don't think I even get this type of functionality on my DVD's that are supposed to have multiple camera angles, etc.

This is great! Now if we can only get the Big Tobacco Companies to support this type of research with some of their settlement money...

And yet, there will still only be 3-4 programs on TV/cable/satellite actually worth watching -- no matter what the resolution is!
...which was found at the bottom of the ocean in 1900...
Actually, it was found in 2000. Just that no one thought to correct for Y2K problems!
So has anyone called OnStar to see if it can be located?

What? You mean you all don't just use Microsoft Passport?
HA! HA!

Uhm... "these people's moral compass" are pointing straight towards greed. Where have you been for the last quarter century?

So when will a cyborg/robot like Six on "Tripping the Rift" be ready???

This is posted when all of my submissions are automatically rejected??? But then again, I'm NOT a paid subscriber...

Another story about this again? {sigh} Must be a slow news day...
So how is this much different from the current method: 3000 Watt system with quad 15" Kickers "broadcasting" to everyone within a 25 foot radius?

This gets published, and my submission on "Court blocks U.S. rules for anti-piracy TV technology" has been pending all day?

They don't "crash". They just "blue-screen" a lot.
