You could not be more on target.
HTTP is used up. There needs to be a new protocol with binary deliverables. You're going to be hard pressed to generically index prioritized information (the "dark web".. all that info in databases somewhere that when put together makes up an application). If you're going to display information in a pretty, brochure format it must be indexable and searchable.
Whatever the solution may be, it needs an automatic data output that is machine readable so that it can be pointed to the human readable version of the data. HTTP is only capable of this because HTML is human readable *and* machine readable. However, rich applications are such a pain to develop in XHTML/CSS/JS...
So an addiction is what... just a habit, right? If I'm addicted to making my bed, is it a bad thing?
I'm addicted to programming, apparently, I have a few things on that list. however, I attribute them to wisdom teeth that need to be removed, lack of sleep, and the fact that theres a ghost living with me.... but again, that could be attributed to the lack of sleep.:)
There are people much smarter than myself who are paid to think of ways to stop piracy. All day they commune around white boards, relentlessly developing ideas and methods to slow the inevitable from happening.
Now it makes sense. Now I see the lunacy... all they have to do is this and piracy will stop. It's a simple fix. Truly genius.
Because I'm playing with textpattern on my personal site at the moment. If you'd like to nitpick, see my most recent css creation: http://www.memorylanemusicgroup.com/
Those of us who have been dealing with CSS for several years have no problem at all visualizing the layout. The big question here is, how do you visualize YOUR layout when you can't have images loading? How do you visualize your table layout on a cellphone? How do you visualize your layout when you cant visualize anything at all... for example if you have low vision or no vision?
Maybe instead of thinking about getting the job done fast you should consider getting the job done right when you're doing your estimates.

Would you like some fries with that elitism? ;)
Why bother to run a conditional against a public static final?

Nor am I. I'm part of the two man team that is teaching CSS development classes at Disney Internet Group.

This post brought to you in semantic XHTML.
"It makes the format a pretty risky choice for Mac users."
:)
Oh, the irony... Mac itself is a pretty risky choice as far as support goes!
Screw the robot... how do you launch a softball at 190mph? I believe that has a more useful application.
Too busy posting conspiracy theories...
Take one look at this report, and instantly your fears of an actual "hi" tech task force are calmed. (260kb for a single page?)
Thats the same reason the chevy nova didn't sell in latin america....
