Although it doesn't make up for the lack of USB keyboard support, the Wii has a 'predictive' function when writing memos. If you click on the icon that looks like the eject button on the right it will turn on this feature.
After writing a few letters it will suggest a few words that you may then click on to use.
This is a huge announcement, One of Japan's biggest franchises headed to the biggest handheld. The more I think about it though, the more it makes sense. Square-Enix has stated before that while it wants to support Sony it doesn't want to pour all of its development into the system. Essentially spreading the wealth to other consoles/markets.
Since the PS3 is already getting a Final Fantasy game, it's probably a little late now to bring out a new Dragon Quest game for the PS2, I can't imagine them sticking on 'waggle' functions for a Wii version and due to their current support of the Xbox360(have they released any games for the xbox360?) the DS is the best choice.
You're correct, all of Nintendo's handhelds have always been region free. From what I remember, the SNES and N64 were not, however all you needed to do was open the cartridge slot and essentially cut off a tab and you were good to go.
Looking forward to just (hopefully) being to able to play imported games out of the box though.
Once you've downloaded the games from the Virtual Console you should be able to save them on an SD card. I believe the Wii has at least one, possibly two slots available.
I'm really hoping the games are not locked down to the machine and that it will be possibly to take my SD card to a friends house and play games there.
I need to pick up BBA. From what I can tell, it allows you to concentrate in areas that may need improving. Does that sound right? The word memorization portion in Brain Age really screws my age.
I'm not really suprised by how well the DS sold this month, the launch of the DS Lite coupled with the relatively new release of New Super Mario Brothers, plus it looks like the Brain Age games are catching on with the American Audience.
Can't wait to see what else is coming on the horizon. Thanks for making games fun again Nintendo!
>> Those DS fans out there screaming about Japan sales better double check the worldwide sales numbers for PSP vs DS.
Great Idea! It would be nice to verify that the same phenomena is happening around the world also, just not as dominating as it's doing in Japan. Look at the sales charts for Germany, France and England and take a look at how many DS games are on the list.
The next time you read a Sony Press Release about how great PSP "sales" are make sure it actually states sales and not shipped
The Xbox also has this game available, it's part of the Street Fighter Anniversary edition that the PS2 shares. I believe that the difference is that the Xbox version is playable online.
Elaine: That is so true! Although one wonders if "War and Peace" would has been as highly acclaimed as it was if it was published under it's original name "War---What Is It Good For?"
Lippman: What?
Elaine: Yes. Mr. Lippman. It was his mistress who insisted he called it "War and Peace." "War--What Is It Good For."(sang) Absolutely nothin'! (spoken to Testikov)that's the song that they got from Tolstoy.

There has been a DS shortage over in Japan while manufacturing for the new DS Lite ramped up. It seems that both DS's are now in short supply with used machines being sold for the same price as new PSPs.
The supply for DS Lites has been slowly increasing though and it's rumored that a big shippment is due within the next few weeks.
There's really nothing wrong with a chiropractor treating back pains. The problem comes when a chiropractor tries to treat migrains, the common cold, ulcers, and even irritable bowel syndrome. Scientifically, you might as well drink chinese tiger penis soup to get a stiffy.
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
What happens to the PSP when the next Gameboy arrives?
Note. Not trolling, Nintendo has always stated that the DS is their Third Pillar, the other two being their console and the real Gameboy.
I'm really suprised at how the DS has been recieved over here, sure it got off to a slow start, but lately it's been picking up steam. The PSP has suprised me also, I never expected UMDs to sell as well as they've reportedly been doing.
They'll be able to push the DS and the GB Micro, a smaller revision of the original GBA (Not the SP clamshell design) that I believe plays all of the advanced games and Gameboy Color ones also.
This should hopefully tide me over until the next 2D Mario game for the DS.
Companies needs to stop turning classics into 3D BS until they have decent reason to do so. ie: Not just taking the 2D gameplay and translating it to 3D.
Before anyone mod's me down. I'm not reffering to Mario 64 as being crap, just the 3D Castlevania's and Contra's.
I think it's a little early to say that the PSP is taking any kind of lead in the handheld market at the moment. If you survey most kids as to what handheld they own I'm certain you'll recieve "Gameboy" as the prevalent answer.
And as for Nintendo needing three out of the park homerun titles on their next platform in order to compete how about:
No, they closed down the Pokemon center back in February to make renovations for this place.
Halfway down the page
The Pokemon Center NY store closed their doors last month for renovations and was announced that it will reopen in spring 2005.
So what do we know about the store's future?
On Nintendo's official job listing page, it is currently listing an opening for a Retail Store Manager and a Retail Assistant Manager for the location at Rockefeller Center, New York for what it calls a "Nintendo concept store" (which is also where the Pokemon Center NY store is located).
Pikmin, Animal Crossing say Hi. (and if you want to include DS games Nintendogs and that floaty head thing from Brain Age)
hearing how inspired developers get after hearing Miyamoto or Iwata speak only to have their 'creativity' result in shovel-ware on the wii or ds.

Comments about the lack of 850MHz affecting North America are a little sensationalistic. I think T-Mobile is doing just fine without it.
I believe Cingular is really the only carrier that relies on the 850 range. (although... I am unsure if T-Mobile has roaming agreements with Cingular)

I skipped the 'viral marketing' portion for fear of spoilers.
:)
The lego version of Serenity is terrific though and very detailed, it's a shame he couldn't build it to scale such that they could fit in there.
Wish I could get blueprints for it... I guess I would always wing it

It better have those little Mice that helped out Princess Aurora.

Ctrl + Page Up/Page Down to switch back and forth between tabs. AFAIK Ctrl + Tab only goes in one direction.
But where does the X come from? Maybe Sony's Marketing Dept. wanted to call it 'Reality Synthesizer Xtreme!!' but someone thought better. ;)
Can't I just edit the winmine.ini file if I wanted the fastest/highest time/score?
:)
