Ok, Sure. When you're all hot and bothered about something, and you don't wanna let it slip, work a bit later, maybe sleep in the next day. Right? And how often do you do that?
The problem is when your project is on the death march, and you are EXPECTED to be there 12+ hours a day, eat nothing but pizza and fast food because you're staying late (which BELIEVE ME makes you sick as hell, and even less productive).
No one has a problem with being a little bit keen, and pushing a little harder. But you can only do that so much, and for so long.
How interesting! EA is this giant mega corporation taking over the whole video game industry!! Yet no one on this forum thinks they make good games. Incredible. You probably all think Microsoft makes crap too.
Please refer to the following link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6769602/ I'll even quote some for you. "The United States took early criticism for being slow to commit cash and political muscle to the relief effort" "The United States was the first to raise the stakes dramatically in the aid race by pledging $350 million on Friday; it is now behind Australia, Germany and Japan."
So please - by all means make yourself feel better about spending a few bucks on tsunami victims while you kill Iraqi's, increase the defense budget, whittle away your civil rights, and torture people.
up until recently, I worked at a place making an FPS, and I was always astounded at howpositive, or at least "neutral" the previews were. We'd cut them a build and think "Oh man, this is so shit" and we'd get back reviews that say things like "This game shows a lot of promise!" or "We can't wait to see the finished game!!" and other such BS previews. Half of the material in there was marketing crap as well.
So. Yes, I agree it is a problem. While we still suffer from IGN-style reviews (their rating system goes from 9.0 to 10.0 I think), the previews are even worse.
If the previews were bad, they wouldn't get all the nice free crap from game companies, and they wouldn't sell as many ads.
i don't know what my point was.. but previews are definitely waaay too generous.
That's good.. I was pretty impressed with the look of Delicious Monster's stuff, then I though "Aw man, they just ripped something off?" But now I feel better:-)
Blogs are popular because access to them is so readily available. I can read a blog while I'm at work, whenever I want, without waiting for commercials, or the story I'm interested in to come on.
It also allows me to visit sites that say things I agree with - hence, I don't spend a lot of time at townhall.com. Hell, I don't even have to visit neutral unbiased sites, I can go to whatever crazed liberally biased conspiracy-laden site I like, and chant "HELL YA" with everything I read - though it may not be true, accurate, complete, fair, etc.
Comparing software's value to hardware's value based on resale value.
You're joking right?
Sure... you can *try* to sell your old hardware, but I don't think too many people are in the market for my old 386-33... Hell, i helped a buddy move the other weekend, and he couldn't GIVE me his old Parallel port flatbed scanner...
There's an electronics surplus store down the street from me, and there's all sorts of old software being sold. it's not used, just old. The only reason you'd ever buy an old copy of MathBlaster CGA is for the hilarious box-art that you might use in an art project.
Wow... Halo2 is FUGLY.... I'm sure they're gameplay is still great... but really, what have they been working on for the last couple years? Dual Weapons?... Sitting on their laurels and collecting money methinks.

That's not a point. It was an attempt at humour, and you failed.
HAha. Good troll.

Previews are ridiculous.

I hope they're related somehow.. otherwise one of these is a total ripoff.
This looks exactly the same without the fancy wood panelling.

Get the plugin.
Why don't more people jump on the Coralize bandwagon? i.e. If they won't mirror, why not "Coralize" the links in the stories?
.nyud.net:8090 to the domain you're after, and presto, automagic load balancing.
Just append
http://www.scs.cs.nyu.edu/coral/overview/
for more info.
" The father of my step-children "
Whoa.. doesn't that make him your husband?
How many times does it have to be pointed out to you morons that BEING ILLEGAL DOESN'T MAKE IT WRONG!... it just won't sink in!
Piracy is not stealing. It may be some other morally-reprehensible act if you care to argue, but it is not stealing.
I disagree.

Do you really think Blogs are more credible?
That was his point. He was criticizing them for being "ahead."
There is a 3DO emulator. It's called FreeDO. You need to "acquire" a bios from somewhere magical though.
I played ThemePark forEVER on that damn thing. That, SF2, and Plumbers Don't Wear Ties.
Just kidding about PDWT.

There's also the issue of the bugs in Madden that were causing people to "exploit" the stamina features in Online games.
I personally just think EA has taken their mindshare for granted. SegaSports gave them a run for the money, and now it seems ESPN has broken through.
Why don't people feel the same way about Movies or Music?
All of a sudden it's a game, and you feel sorry for someone?
Why is that?
Somehow, with it being so expensive, I'm reminded of the 3DO
Offtopic, or Humor? Sheesh - I guess there's no accounting for taste.
The first thing I thought upon reading "Fiber Rollout" was taking a nice long dump.
I never seem to have modpoints when I want them.
OffTopic of course, but why not use BugMeNot instead of worrying about sites with required registration?

It's not good that we have to think for 20 minutes to remember any intelligent minority game characters.
Sure it's good!! That just means that minorities are so well integrated in society that you don't even notice! Isn't that the point?
