Novelity stretches perceived time. As you grow older and most everything of your day become routine, novelity runs low and therefore time flies. This has been my theory for a few years now.

I can't be unique in being annoyed by "drama" involving characters I barely know. Unfortunately SC Universe insisted that someone had to play the tragic hero and die in the first 50 minutes. The next 10 minutes were, surprise, filled with a hysteric woman, related to the dead "hero", crying, screaming, yelling and waxing nostalgically. I fucking hate that. Why do writers think they need these cliches and emotional breakdowns to give their story meat? Is this really what they think the audience had in mind when they turned on science fiction?

You have to realize that people have been saying the exact same things since launch day basically. Sure, someday WoW will cease but you can be sure it's not going to be anytime soon.
"How it works"... that's lunacy... I know full well HOW it works it's just that doing manual memory allocation is beneath me. Sort of like how I know how to clean the office yet it's not the best use of my time. C guys always acting like malloc() is rocket science when in actuality it's the sort of mindless book keeping that any programmer worth a damn (and any human being with a shred of self worth, actually) will avoid like the plague.
Anyone saying "it's just a hobby" either doesn't understand what a hobby is or what "just" means. If people actually have a hobby it's going to be very very important to them. Anyhow, I wonder how many people would accept / defend a Microsoft app store that was there to ensure no kiddy porn or trojan could be loaded on your Windows PC.
you realize he did this in a designated PVP zone, right? So actually the problem is that he is being harassed by passive / aggressive carebears that arranged it amongst themselves to have a smooth farming experience there. The thought that farming should be a secondary activity with a lower priority than the actual goals of the game doesn't even enter the minds of these flaming turds.
You actually link to the wiki entry and are presumably a mathematician or statician and yet do not know that the only person with an Erdos number of 0 is Erdos? How is that?
What business of yours is his leisure time? What an self righteous arse you must be to write such posts? What are you doing on slashdot anyway with your doubtlessly full "fostering relationships" schedule? It's striking how often judgmental people like you are hypocrites. Can you show that your lifestyle even matches your own criteria?
That might as well be but we are talking about openness. Get with the program please. NOBODY is saying that you can't have proprietary platforms, a lot of people just prefer less lock-in to more and are therefore
"skeptical" if you also get to pay more for the privileged of being able to do less with your stuff.
why would you want to? To run apps that aren't available on mac os for starters. Saying "licensed Hardware" is a nice euphemism for a vendor locked-in OS. I don't have a problem with it but personally I find it ridiculous to pay extra for a simple chip or modified bios or whatever tells OS X it's okay to install on the mac hardware.
It's on youtube, fool. It's Web 2.0. It's a Määääääsch Up! Where have you been? Don't you know that combining exiting things in novel ways was invented together with HTTPXMLResponse?
Your sig and your comment go together very well Sir;)... (tip: it's prudent to buy what you need in winter in the summer and vice versa. It can be A LOT cheaper that way)
Why go to Banards star? It's not the closest, it doesn't seem to have planets and it flares so if it does they definately won't have life. It's so old there are probably not a lot of heavy elements in the system either. I would go to Alpha Centauri. 3 Stars for the price of one! And a huge habitable zone(s) to boot!
You have the same HR problems on an oil rig. Of course, space assembly requires a space elevator so it's not much of a problem to swap out crews every three months. Lots and lots of people are willing to take these types of deals: work 3 month, play 3 months and get a shitload of money for it.
Yes, going to jail for your choice in operating systems is exactly the same as having to download an "format x to format y" converter. I completely agree and you really don't need to have your head examined...

I wonder if it's in the casinos best interest to demonstrate that if you, in fact, "manage to beat the odds" the odd (guys in suits) will beat you.

I thought they get their salary for their hours and hours of work!?
not most. 50% if the police have a very very good day.
of course Hitler was a socialist ... he prefered to call it the "volkswohl" though. Don't let yourself be blinded by the Nazis own propaganda, please.
Why would you need grow lights on the moon?

actually ... no. You should read the paper.
I'm pretty sure it isn't seeing how the german-derived null literally means zero.

if done right you indulge your partner as well ;) ... anyways, it's fun and it's healthy so why is it termed an undesirable outcome?
Says who!? You? Interesting. Got some numbers?

Shield, knows your ignorance and foolishness really no bounds or are you just not ashamed anymore?
