  1. Not a free speech issue on University of Florida Student Tasered At Political Rally · · Score: -1

The guy did speak, and he got arrested. He did not get arrested for speaking. The police were there to escort him out because the people running the rally asked him to leave (and he wasn't). He continued to cause a scene, so the police were escorting him out. His resistance to be escorted is what caused him the problem, he became a danger by becoming aggressive with the police escort. While the use of the taser may have been excessive, even after he was handcuffed, he continued to resist the police. That amount of police should be able to handle one person, and a taser should not be necessary. But this has nothing to do with free speech. He didnt get tasered for saying anything, he didnt get arrested for saying anything. He got arrested for fighting and being aggressive with the police escorts. No politics involved at all, stop trying to make an issue out of something else.

Get a passively cooled Mini-ITX pc with an external power supply. No fans and no clicking as long as you have a good hard drive. The passively cooled VIA chipsets are great for many applications and provide me with a nice quiet HDPC. Either way I listen to enough music that I don't hear a thing.

You might think its odd, but that is probably because you are either 16 and not allowed to see boobies or have horrible memories of not being able to see boobies. While I agree that it is odd to make such a big deal about boobies, I don't think the fact that you can drive at 16 has anything to do with being mature enough to see boobs, they are two unrelated things. I hear a similar cry about being able to join the military but not being able to drink. Again, it is ridiculous but the two have nothing to do with each other.

  23. staring at a computer screen for hours on What Will It Take For eBook Adoption? · · Score: 0

I think the main issue with eBooks is that you need to read from a screen. Long documents can tire your eyes more easily when reading from an electronic device. I always found myself printing large electronic documents to read them off of actual paper. The white on the paper is much flatter and more dull than a screen. Until a computer can simulate nice paper, I will stick to the normal paperbacks. I also have a habit, which I enjoy, of grabbing the paper of the next page while reading, this isnt really possible with computers, but I could live without that.

It is also rewarding to judge your progress through a normal book by actually looking at where the bookmark is. With eBooks, all you have is a page number. There is just something about eBooks that takes away the comfort of reading a nice little book

I think the best solution is like the diary in Harry Potter 2. The ink that sort of generates itself on a page, that would be nice.

  25. Turkey on Comparing Internet Cafe Rates Worldwide · · Score: 1, Funny

Looks like i'm heading to Turkey. But seriously, do people even use Cyber Cafes? I find that most of their policies about pr0n render them useless, especially with public indecency laws.

Do these countries have any idea what other countries are being charged? I think they are just making up numbers that sound good, while making the most money off of it.
